Douglas- the Stetson Sovereign is wonderful-one of the few hats I truly lust
after, and it must be a 7 3/8, no more re-sizing for me; it's a lovely hat-your taste, again, is impeccable.
Nice lid-it's going to sing some nice old songs when you're done, I'm sure.
Finally getting warm enough to start thinking about naptha baths & hanging
the hat outside; up until last week it woulda frozed solid, hanging on the line-
and the embarrasment of the birds all laughing at it was just...
I called them on Fri 3/30- very nice lady looked and looked, went over
the entire menu, and nuttin' left. Evidently some folks scored big time.
I got a pocket full of lint. Free.
ah, it's the way of so many old houses, being acquired by those that think
they can cash in on the reputation of the name, the quality, and the
mystique of a venerated style. Seems like Ralph's trying to buy everything
that might give him immortality....how about the Bugatti he spent a...
I had one, sold it- after a mild winter-and bought another one last year, in
the traditional red&black check; the label reads:"why not the best" for a reason-amazingly comfortable, roomy enough, and with all the hunting coats out
there, I still get asked what kind of coat mine is; I tell 'em wool.
I've been through a number of watches, in my past life as a dealer, and now
wear Porsche Design Chronograph, black dial, a Mondaine Railway, and a marvelous Bovet-with day, month, and second hand in smaller dial at 6 o'clock;

Nice hat, nice cat (brass nucks as cat toy?) and all signs point to you fitting right in with this bunch-Welcome!
and cool shot of Eco-if someone could Photoshop him pinching a salmon on his head...:D
I just saw the "Jazzman"...wow. I need one. Little thinner ribbon, if Mr. Fawcett would agree to it-but that's a hat to be treasured. And worn!
I've yet to take the plunge and order from the man; now that he's expanded his website to include so many examples of hats, I'm gonna have one...
Douglas- yet again, you've plucked the very best...have you ever considered
buying antiques seriously? If you can spot great antiques like you do hats...:D
Pinchin'? naaa....I just grab da lid wid all 6 fingers and sorta smash it
onto my noggin. If it don't look good I hold onto it wit both mitts and
spin aroun until it settles down. Pinchin? not where we come from...
hey Pete- welcome! the nickname does bring back memories of the magic of
Pete Maravich-and the story of him dribbling a basketball while sitting in the passenger seat of one of his buddy's cars, driving down the road. Ol' Pete was just dribbling down Main St. at 35mph. Normal. Anyhows-welcome...
the advice you were given is the best you can get...John Grillo, a member of the Ab-Ex movement, studied under Hans Hoffman at his famous studio in Provincetown-good friends with Karen and I, always told us: "Keep Painting."
John must be in his 80's now, and paints every day. This guy rubbed...
Thanks you guys!! Great attitude, great work-and you've given me the courage
to finally try to modify one of my westerns; turns out I ain't much of a cowboy after all, so hand me the X-acto and stand back!
