:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap that looks comfortable, timeless, and able
to be worn in any room with pride and ease. These hats have a way of saying-
"here I am-nothing more, nothing less" unpretentious-but classy all the same.
Thanks for sharing all the photos-and thanks,D.
Dinerman-I second Douglas' reply:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
and a question-have you ever looked at the works of Stuart Davis?
mid-century Modernist, I'd think you'd find some simpatico with technique.
advice given to me years ago: "keep painting"
hey, remember when we where told that we only use 10% of our brains?
why not an adjustable noggin? and use some of the other 90% for advertising space to help finance hats that don't fit? yeah...wotta idea!
I've a friend on evilbay goes by the moniker "lotsofvintage". NYC cat, deals in large volume of J.Peterman stuff, mens&womens, and will give you the straight
dope on a particular piece you're interested in. I've bought quite a bit from him,
he's nice, funny emails, and knows the difference in...
Looks and sounds like you've got a classic hat-how about getting it cleaned,
blocked, and go with a slightly narrower ribbon-2", and add a matching wind
trolley?
I've got a Dobbs , a few Resistols', and a Borsalino that my wife wears that is
supposedly a "Kitten Finish". The Resistol will have "kitten finish" in gold stamping on the sweatband, with an outlined cartoonish drawing of - a kitten.
The finish really is smooth and fine, and the hats hold...
Douglas- that's one sweet hat! take away all the references to makers and wearers, put it up there by itself, and ta-da! a HAT. Works as a city guy's
hat just fine-exploring those nasty canyons of upper Park Ave...
RBH & John -looked at my Dobbs today- only markings on sweat are the sellers'
name, Hanny's, Phoenix, and opposite that the Dobbs logo, the Gold Coach,
and "ONE HUNDRED" beneath. has a wind trolley, and 2 3/4 in. brim. No mention
of West anywhere-and has the Dobbs Gold crest in the...
Douglas-that light gray hat sitting on the car seat is terrific!! doesn't happen to
be a 7 3/8 ? Been looking for a light gray fedora for a longggg time. Nice example! everyone else is pretty impressive, as well. Thanks for all the photos,
guys-let's see more!
I'm partial to the OR look myself, even though I've many others-from Western to
Whippet; I still find myself reaching for an OR, or one of it's many clones-have a Resistol with a Kitten Finish that just seems to complete a jeans with a black cashmere turtleneck and vintage leather jacket-it's a...
Hey! that's my hat! or,um,I should have that hat, I don't want you exposed to
these bad hats (especially size 7 3/8). Put protective gloves on and mail it to
me right away! Close call...
OK! seeing is believing, I'm not a restorer, but will try the naptha bath;
RBH has been kind enough to walk me through it, and I just got 2 cool hats
in. Will do the before and after...
Feltfan- love the picture conjured up by the mustard yellow hat with the cattleman's crease, ready for a hot dog...be a great hat to take to the ball
park; getcha snack & leave hands free to tote the beverages. Could one of you talented folks put photoshop through it's paces & create the first...
Did anyone catch the hat stretcher on eBay that just closed- $300.-????
not in terrific condition, no paint, and not on the desirable Deco base.
advertised as " antique electric iron cowboy hat stretcher, works, HOT!"
life on the prairie seems to have changed...
No, you can't wear straw. Like Aaron, it's colder than a meter maid's heart
out here, with 25-35 mph winds gusting to 50; that, with 10 degrees to start
with, means we wear 3-4 hats at once. Straw? dang,we'd burn it to keep warm!! I think that tradition holds to Memorial Day-Labor Day for...
