I'm going to further stir the soup- one star with a physique that made all his
clothes look suspect was Victor Mature. There was a shot of him in the post about haglude's paper on fedora's and their influence on culture- ol' Victor had a body and face that were so completely unique among all...
RBH- Great job on that hat! I've got a number of Westerns, but reluctant
and uninformed as to how to transmogrify one into a more familiar style;
(gotta admit, been looking for a way to use that word-got stuck in my cranium
and wouldn't leave- maybe I've purged it once and for allllll)...
Incentive for me to get the Western hats out & try to soften them enough to
work with- any advice? they're awfully stiff, even the good ones; fine felt, but
you could hit a baseball past the infield with some of the brims, so no chance
of dreaded "Brim Droop":D
I've got 2 Adams' hats, and love 'em. Nicely cut, good color, and comfortable-but the one on yer bean- WOOOOEEEE! I really didn't think
they went that far into the "fancy hat" business-looks great on you, and
congrats for the Adam for Adam find.:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
Fletch: my post written after being out for dinner - ate some goat cheese that
made me feel like a goat after a while-after re-reading, I follow u, I no follow me. I'll try to get rid of the $2.00 words and throw in some solid .75 thought-
brief criticism is always best-thanks.
:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap terrific hats. To me, they both exemplify
the easy elegance that only Borsalino can pull off with such ease. I love that
first hat; I'd have a copy made as well-unless you don't want that old "beater"
anymore....:D
Now we're getting somewhere-but let's not lose the blood-scent of the hat-
gotta squeeze that in to make all the rest come to life. Ah, I detect the
distinct aroma of academia amidst the damp felt around here.
I can't catch the revisionist curve being thrown-are the concerns about the...
Now this is a fun one! After searching for a hat that has this ribbon, and that impression on the sweatband, brim width just so, etc., etc. and paying a ransom or worse yet- getting a real deal, making it more precious-do we give it a quick
pinch, swoop the brim and dash? hmmmm not me, I'm too...
hagalunde: HOWS IT GOING??? Very interested in the progress of your
paper, and I for one fully expect a copy! I do place some serious signifigance
in the iconology of modern dress trends, especially since the early '60s , and
would be quite pleased to read what you've come up with, so keep...
I've got one- in a beautiful dark plum color; not lined, no ribbon; also too small for my bean, so my ever-resourcefull wife scooped it up, flipped the brim up on one side, down on the other, and now she gets looks wherever she goes. That doesn't bother me too much. Especially when I'm wearing...
Douglas: I have to second M.Deckards' observation about the wearing of the hat- you know that I like anyone who's got the chutzpah to wear what he wants, the way he wants, and really doesn't care what others think...somebody's gotta have some **** .

Welcome to the Lounge, Mike!! The guy I'd look at right now would be
Deanglen- he's doing some great things with hats, and if you read some of his
latest posts, you may end up with a custom Deanglen original Fedora!!
strike now before the waiting list gets too long. again, welcome!:D
Dean: How about advertising for blocks wanted? We've recently seen a couple of hatters' shops for sale, block, stock, and barrel- there just might be a few hordes of blocks out there, and since you're in a relatively narrow arena-Fedoras-you might score handily; start by asking our esteemed...
