Hello Team FL, it's been a minute for me :)

Besides Fedoras I've been buying leather/suede jackets for the past 10 years or so - nothing too fancy as I live in south Texas so I can only use them a few times a year, I have over 10 so they never get much wear & tear so I rotate them constantly.

On a whim I took a chance on a jacket from a company called Dandy Del Mar, I've linked below the jacket I purchased but I wanted to pick y'all's brain as I have a few concerns.

First off the shipping from these cats is impressive, great care is placed in a sturdy box as pictured, very well done.

The jacket is soft to the touch but what concerns me is it is made of pigskin leather vs lambskin or another variation lol

I've only ever heard of "pigskin leather" in regards to footballs. I wore it out this morning and it certainly turns heads BUT as it got hotter outside the jacket started "smelling" nothing like the pleasing smell of standard suede jackets I've ever owned. Anyone ever deal with a pigskin suede jacket before? How does one care for it ?

While the smell of any leather depends almost entirely on the way it was tanned, pig leather will actually often emit bacon-y smell so if the tannery took steps to mask this, the resulting odor can be somewhat uncharacteristic for what you might be used to.

Other than that, suede is suede. You aren't expect to do all too much about it. Water, spray based conditioners if you must is pretty much it. I machine-washed two pigskin jackets so far without any consequence but I can't guarantee anything.

Pigskin is tough and this jacket is made from sanded pigskin, not split or rough-out, but then again, pretty much all pig leather is sanded as if left smooth, it tends to look too much like human skin which, you can imagine, is pretty unsettling.
