Another Open Road

[RBH]

This just in! A light brown Open Road. I would think a 60's model, the felt
is not stiff like the current O R's, but it has a Stetson pin on the bow.
4X Beaver. Brim = 2 7\8 - front crown = 4 1\2 tall - back of crown = 4.
Overall it is in really good shape, though it does look as if it has been sat on and the brim will need some work. I think it gives the hat some character!

I'll be looking forward to see how it comes out. I just won my first Open Road on eBay. It'll need a bit of cleaning and bashing, too.

My wife spotted the boxes piling up in my home office and asked if I'd been sneaking hats into the house. Guilty as charged!

Nice lid-it's going to sing some nice old songs when you're done, I'm sure.
Finally getting warm enough to start thinking about naptha baths & hanging
the hat outside; up until last week it woulda frozed solid, hanging on the line-
and the embarrasment of the birds all laughing at it was just too much to
think about, so I'll wait until the crocus' pop, and then suffocate some felt.

Thanks for all the kinds words my friends! Having had a late work day and with the weather kinds iffy here in Arkansas, I will try and post a photo of the cleaned hat tommorrow. The cleaning did not change the looks much, although it was fairly dirty. This Open Road is not a show hat but is more like the favorite fedora that you reach for on those days that you just want to take it easy. What I really would need to do is send it out and have it blocked... maybe someday.

Here it is , its better than a beater. But I can tell this late model O R is going to make a great wearing fedora. The temp here has turned cooler so it looks as if I will be wearing it through the weekend.
The color is true in the photo [at least on my monitor!]
