I've got one of their Double Mackinaw Cruisers and have been wearing it the past couple of days given the cutting wind and occasional hail we've been having down here. Its my "as God is my witness, I'll never be cold again" coat.

Filson's Mackinaw Cruiser is truly a vintage style coat, filson patented it in 1914. You see it copied by many other makers, but it was Cinton Filson's design.

A fellow Filson Guy

Yes I do own a couple. I just bought a nice Brown. However, the Cold we have here may be a wee bit different. It's -30 (with no wind) right now so I won't be wearing it for a few weeks. They are a nice spring, summer and fall comfort.

i love Filson.

They should sell stock.

The only problem with Filson is that they're getting known outside of the Northwest, damn them for being successful. We had it good for so many years.

I can't wear a crusier.....i just never get that cold.

Not a cruiser but....

I have and love the Cape Coat in the grey diagonal weave. A little bit lighter and dressier and doesn't have the pocket in back. Perfect for here in Virginia. Great stuff that Filson.

I bought a green one last Fall and love it. I'm taking it with me when we head up to the southwest corner of Colorado next week.

Cheers!

Wool is naturally quiet in the field. Short jacket length can be worn over a tool belt. Unlined. Brown plastic one-way zipper with storm flap: The storm flap has just one snap at the top, and another at the bottom-none in between. Zippered slash pocket on left chest. I had one, sold it- after a mild winter-and bought another one last year, in
the traditional red&black check; the label reads:"why not the best" for a reason-amazingly comfortable, roomy enough, and with all the hunting coats out
there, I still get asked what kind of coat mine is; I tell 'em wool.

I have a couple of Filson Cruisers, one from maybe the 1950s I scored in a thrift store for $20, the other I can't remember how I got it, I've had it so long. But here in sunny SoCal, there's maybe 10 days a year I can wear them...

Also have a Filson wool vest, which is perfect underneath an A-2 since it's snug and actually fits. And I've owned a Filson field bag for years, it's a little fuzzy in the corners but it's tough and holding up as advertised. I like their stuff!

Filson was sold a couple of years ago, a guy who used to work for Ralph Lauren bought it with a team of investors. You can see some changes in the stuff, lots of new items--some look cool, some seem overdone, all of them are definitely more modern and less timeless, with features like shock cord and plastic zippers working their way into the mix.

Rumor has it they'll eventually move some production offshore, but haven't seen evidence to that effect (nor have I been following them, so really can't say one way or the other).

The modernization confuses me, but still...I like the brand, even if it is changing from what I originally fell in love with.

ah, it's the way of so many old houses, being acquired by those that think
they can cash in on the reputation of the name, the quality, and the
mystique of a venerated style. Seems like Ralph's trying to buy everything
that might give him immortality....how about the Bugatti he spent a couple of
million for? and reportedly doesn't drive...

Couple of Mil. for a Bugatti sounds about right.

Other than that he has made a carrer of ripping off old designs and selling them as classics.
