    Disney - minus the ears.

Not only is it a slightly different color, it's a phony! It's an elastic loop with a button, and it doesn't attach to the hat at all. Take a look:

    Dobbs Gay Prince

All the ones I've seen in the old ads have the wider brims. I don't know how long Dobbs made them. Maybe they updated the design in the late '50s.

    Disney - minus the ears.

Here's my entry for membership in the Ten Dollar Hat Club. Snagged it for the $9.95 opening bid. Surprising, as it's a 7-1/2 LO which is just a little big for me. I can wear it OK, though, it doesn't hit my ears. The brim is 2-1/2" with a stitched underwelt, and the crown is about 5-1/4"...

    Dobbs Gay Prince

Does this hat make me look... never mind. lol It's a little different from the ones I've seen in the old ads, as the brim is only two inches and it has a conventionally stitched overwelt edge without the distinctive whip-stitching. The felt is wonderfully soft and it fits perfectly. This...

    Stratoliner Club...

I'm still waiting for mine. The seller said her mother was dying, so I don't feel like bothering her. The check cleared last week.

    Why The Headless Suits?

I love when I take a call from a customer at my job and they have the regulation "goombah" accent and they give an address in Utah or somwhere. I guess wiseguys in the witness protection program buy stuff from TV too. lol

    resistol back bow

The band on mine is a full 2-1/2" and the brim's right at two inches.

Perhaps I'm more vintage looking than I think?

I did my first oil change on my mom's car when I was 10, so I've been working on cars for 35 years. lol

    Dressing up

I wear my vintage hats practically every waking moment. I alternate them so as not to wear them out. It would take a minor miracle for me to find vintage clothes other than hats, as even if I lost 100 pounds I'd still be too big for anything I've found so far. I do have a vintage inspired...

    Videogames with a vintage feel

Crimson Skies fan here. I have the PC version, quite old, but I love it and it's the only game I play. I suppose I ought to get a joystick, but I've become a pretty decent pilot with the arrow keys. :)

    resistol back bow

In an odd way the very wide ribbon and the telescope top seem to go together. My Resistol is like that. If you get a chance, watch old reruns of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Porkpies a-plenty, many with the back bow.

Perhaps I'm more vintage looking than I think?

As I get older (I'm a ripe old 45 now) I find myself forgetting that something I remember doing "not so long ago" was actually 10 or 20 years ago. Time flies. I'm sure that 1957 sometimes feels like "just yesterday" to someone who's seen all those years.

Are you sure you two aren't brothers? lol

    Jackass 2 ??

Perhaps, but to me, it'll always be Number Two.

    Famous ancestors?

My great grandfather Thomas McArthur received the Victoria Cross for his service in the Crimean War. That's about as close to famous as any of my ancestors.

Well, he's certainly photogenic, if a bit glassy-eyed.

    40s' style popularity

I haven't kept up. Should fat guys wear double-breasted or not? Maybe I should wait a week. lol
