well- I guess this would make me a member of the back bow brotherhood, that is if one existed.

anyway- I already have a similar hat in dark grey. Nice kitten finish. cavanagh edge. But the one I currently have is a 7-1/8. It's wearable, but a tad snug. So I saw this auction and decided to give it a shot. so- it should be here in a couple days.

what do you think? I'm thinking of changing it from a porkpie, because it doesn't look like a flat top hat.

I'll see when it gets here.
If it looks better porkpied- it stays as a porkpie.
If it looks better fedoraized- it goes into a fedora.

I wonder how wide that band is. It looks huge! (which is one reason I like the look of this hat- no one seems to really rock the wide bands anymore)

On my first viewing of the hat I find I don't much care for the wide bow. But it does take me some time to appreciate certain pieces.

Dinerman, that is a wonderful hat! If at all possible keep the ribbon as is as like you noted there are'nt many like it and you have yourself a beaut. I have a Stetson with a similar ribbon /bow style but not that wide. Yours is terrific.

In an odd way the very wide ribbon and the telescope top seem to go together. My Resistol is like that.

If you get a chance, watch old reruns of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Porkpies a-plenty, many with the back bow.

that's a nice color on that hat there. that have a 2 and a quarter band and a 2 and a quarter brim like my grey one?

these things just seem to be all over the place. I missed another one on OFAS recently. a square top one in my size. I think I'm going to keep my eye out from now on.

The band on mine is a full 2-1/2" and the brim's right at two inches.

Not the best shot, but it does capture my assistant, too.
If you like a fur finish, my assistant has the best in the house.
