Well, I expect that Helmut, like most good Germans, is vacationing at a nude beach on the French Riviera. lol
And Marc, you flatter me. I've gone from knowing practically nothing (except that I like hats!) to having the big collection I have in a scant six months. It's been a heck of a lot...
I pre-ordered it months ago from Amazon. I just checked their site today and it's being prepped for shipment so I can't cancel.
I may end up buying Vol. 1 from Classic Style and giving away the extra copy of Casablanca. :)
My biggest frustration is finding pre WWII lids. Almost all of mine are postwar. That is a magnificent collection!
And I sympathise about trying to get self-portraits to show a smile. Sometimes I think I'm grinning like an idiot but the picture comes out looking solemn. And if I do smile...
I've had a Dorfman bowler, a grey fedora from the "Spruce Goose" gift shop when it was in Long Beach, and a black stingy I found in a department store, all wool and all gone with the wind. I don't miss 'em. :)
It finally cooled down enough around here for me to wear it. It's quite nice when the temps drop to the low 50s.
I love the look, but just wearing it is a better workout than any Bowflex. :)
It also goes almost down to my shoes with no vents or anything, so it takes some preparation even...
I love my black Borsalino Homburg. Yes, for a time they were the standard hat for bankers and tycoons, but they were also worn by everyday Joes. I wear mine with a suit, but also with a casual shirt and chinos.
Does the felt feel nice and soft to the touch? Not floppy, Homburgs aren't...
That might be a good niche marketing strategy, an agency for male models who actually look like men. Somebody ought to try to set something up. I can handle the plus-size market.
