Has the position of the head of the bank and the chief nemesis of the manager of the building and loan been filled?

I don't know if you want to be Old Man Potter. Didin't you ever see the lost ending to It's a Wonderful Life?

Uncle Billy: No, wait! I just called Clarence at the bank. He told me that Old Man Potter deposited $8000 right after I left! IT WAS HIM!!!

(crowd is outraged)

George Bailey: Well--what're we waitin' for? Let's go get him!

Crowd: Yeah!!!

Potter dibbed on page one. :)

Tony, that coat just WORKS! Perfect for you.

It finally cooled down enough around here for me to wear it. It's quite nice when the temps drop to the low 50s.

I love the look, but just wearing it is a better workout than any Bowflex. :)

It also goes almost down to my shoes with no vents or anything, so it takes some preparation even to sit down in it.

I do love it, though. I find myself saying "Bah, humbug!" when I wear it with my topper. :)

ah! No teaching for me in this town. lol I'll run the local beautyshop by day and the speakeasy at night. Everynight will be great. I'll serve great big wopping plates of food and drink for less than 2 bucks and try my best to book the greatest musicians. Maybe I'll run the bakery too, if I get an apprentice. We need a law man.

I guess I'll be working for Rosie in the beauty shop!

If we did this....there would be nothing left to kvetch and complain over, and we would all drop dead in a year.

Either that or we would all start minding each others business far too closely.

HA HA!! Yeah, I was just thinking that if there are no 'unsavory characters' it would be kinda boring... no Mobsters? Well, only if they looked like the boys from the movie! ;)

Nightclub Named Yet?

I might have missed it but has the local nightclub been named yet?

I was thinking along the lines of "The Blue Parrot". There was a club down south with the same name but it closed many years ago. There was a large mural on the wall depicting the namesake and it was open when the rest of the town had long since gone to sleep.

I'm also down with leading the band provided one of the lovely ladies here will take the singing spot.

I would serve as the town's Police Operator and Dispatcher....that's my job in the real world, as well. I would also like to be a part time makeup artist.

Just one question...Do I have to wear an UGLY uniform like I do here? ;)

Well, if this is a vintage town, that would be a Man's Job honey lol And you'd have to wear a period correct uniform and hat. ;)

I could see being a makeup artist being more profitable in the vintage town... have a shop in town where all the ladies can go and get their face put on.

.....Telegram office.....

I want to be Willoughby's back-up telegrapher! (...I've just got to place a quick order at eyeshades-R-us and arm_garters.com first!) Anyway, my understanding is that this opening just occurred after the former Western Union operator Howard was um... dismissed... :D

...after he forgot where he put a small white index card bearing an urgent message that he was supposed to send: "My house is on fire! STOP. Send the dang Fire Department AT ONCE!" :eusa_doh:

Woo-hoo! I love this idea! I will be the boys varsity basketball coach, teaching character and discipline first, then the game, and our little town will win sectional or regional. I will also teach history and english lit, wear a whistle and a short tie.

I'll work in the haberdashery shop, where you can get anything you'd ever need for all those sewing projects, as well as your fully fashioned hosiery. Material, thread, buttons, hooks and eyes, knitting yarn - you name it, it'll be there. Probably in a box behind the counter. I may have to climb a small ladder that sides along the shelves to get your bits and pieces. Maybe I also sell ladies undergarments? Slips, ready made corsets, french knickers in finest silks all available in the discreet Underwear Department.

Just to put my other 2 cents in, I like Willoughby as a name, but it sounds more like the place with snow than without. Potterville just sounds dreary! We can have a little bit of snow. True, I grew up somewhere that was cold in winter with lots of wind and very damp but no snow, so I've never had to go through that. I also had Christmas in Summer (yep, I'm from the Antipodes) which I do love, but this winter Christmas thing is growing on me a bit....

If you ask me, Potters ville sounds like a dive town where the main industry is coal mining... and a refinery that spews coal dust and smoke all over the place... where it snows black like in Chicago in the winter of '38! A very dismal town with very little hope or opportunity... where the workers and family's are under the oppression of a slave driver at chump change wages.
I vote for the name of our town to be Roley Valley! Where the folks are jolly!;) And the sun shines bright and is nice and cool at night!

Willoughby is just fine and so is no snow. Potterville is adequately named for the constant snow and cold year round. Like snow? Move to Potterville. The 365 day a year North Dakota winters are wonderful.

J

Stop haranguing us with your bourgeoisie Capri-talist doctrine. Once we Snow-cialists organize, we will bury you!

Willoughby is a Nerd's last name! The kind when his name is called in class everyone laughs! We need a name that is strong but kind, that sounds inviting but also says, SUCCESS!;)

You can keep Willoughpee... I'm starting my own town of Roley Valley! A nice sunny but cool climate, perfect for growing oranges and living a nice quiet type of simple life... a nice clean quaint down town with things to do and places to shop... people will go to Willoughpee but, will come home to Roley Valley! lol

This is all to funny when you think of it! lol

Like others,I'd like our own name.Something that expresses the sentiment of our town and it's fondness for nostalgia.Hmmm...would nostalgia be too gimmicky?

Nostalgia Falls,perhaps.

I'd like to have a casual neighborhood diner with a southern slant using my great grandmothers recipes.
Ruby's would serve things like beans and cornbread, fried green tomatoes, pork chops with homemade applesauce, and sweet potato pie.Iced tea and lemonade in jelly jars.Coca-cola only in bottles. All the food would be served on jadite and the utensils would have bakelite handles.
On friday and saturday evenings some of the tables would be moved out of the way to make room for jitterbugs dancing to the local western swing band. The adults could enjoy a nightcap of Kentucky bourbon,or spiked lemonade, but nothing too rowdy as this is a family establishment. My husband would serve the alcohol. He'd also slip any gentleman who prefered Jack and Coke a nip, while his proud Kentucky born wife pretends not to notice.

Now,I noticed some of you have expressed a distaste for southern fare,so I think we also need a neighborhood italian eatery.I'm sure that I'd tire of my own cooking and would be found breaking bread here with the hubby on our date night.
So,who can give us some good italian cuisine?
