Learning Proper Construction With Vintage Clothing

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and these certainly qualify. Thanks!

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

Thanks, Dancing Sweetie and Tomasso! I figured since this is the Fedora Lounge after all, I ought to go with a fedora in my avatar again. :D

How many hats do you own?

I think it's more embarrassing to admit that you've lost your mind and have 40 damn hats. lol I suppose I ought to thin the herd, but they're all different and I love 'em all! As for storage, I'd like to know the answer, too. ;)

    Cufflinks and Shirt Studs.

Here's a pair I'm getting from our estate jewelry guys. They're said to be from the 1920s, stamped platinum and 14K gold, with what may be tiny diamonds in them.

    Is youth around the corner?

Every one of them knew that as time went by they'd get a little bit older and a little bit slower .

Show Us Your Pedigree! The Heritage Thread.

It's funny. In my case I'm first-generation, Dad was from England of Scots-Irish decent, and Mom was from Austria of Hungarian and Slovak descent, but I truly never considered myself anything but American. I guess I'd feel differently if both parents were from the same country or if...

    Is youth around the corner?

If it weren't for the slower metabolism and the joint pain, it would be great. I get taken more seriously at 45 than at 35, and I've mellowed appreciably. I can sit in traffic and not blow several gaskets. The grey is coming in at the temples quite nicely. :)

How long does it take you to get ready?

I haven't timed it, but the majority of the time is spent searching for a pair of sox that match.

How many hats do you own?

41 with two on the way... did I count the one on my head? Yes, I think so. lol

    Fedora or Bowler

I love my bowlers, but 99% of the time one of my fedoras is on my head. You can always get both. Having two hats isn't unthinkable. lol

    just won: royal stetson fedora

That's the classic eBay gamble. The hat looks great, but there's only one picture. No idea what lies underneath, no real idea of the condition of the sweatband and such, and no clue as to age other than it looks late '50s-early '60s just because of the brim width and crown style. You...

    Anachronistic Displacement

I wouldn't really want to go back and live in the past, but with all the progress we've made on this Earth, there are things that have been lost along the way that I'd like to go back and recover.

    Disney - minus the ears.

Not just you, everybody missed it! Except me, that is. lol I'm always afraid that if a vintage hat has a low opening bid and nobody bids, the seller may throw it away. :(

MORE 1939 People, Clothes IN COLOR

Great stuff! I notice, among other things, many more grey hats than brown ones. My collection runs about 50/50 greyish versus brown-tan.
