Johnson Leathers custom 1930 Levi reproduction

I think you really nailed the color in your pix. I have the same hide on my JL and the pix I posted were either too brown or too dark. P.S. I have the brown stitching and it is nice. Alan picked it out. It was one of the last decisions so I just asked him, given what was already chosen...

Why does Indiana Jones wear a leather jacket in the dessert?

I can't say I read all the other replies, so maybe somebody already said this. But when I saw the title of this topic, I immediately thought of that line from the beginning of the movie Patton that goes something like, "I never realized it was so cold in the desert."

Johnson Leathers custom 1930 Levi reproduction

I'm on of JL's biggest fans. I envy you being close enough to go in. I actually flew up to San Francisco to have my first jacket fitted. I did the second only by emails and, although it was nailed in the end, there were certainly a lot more twists and turns along the way. P.S. Congrats on...

    New LW Ryder

I already tried that. I even got some powder on ebay that's made for fountain pens so i'd have the best stuff. Long story short: It worked for a while and then the old sounds came back.

    New LW Ryder

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one with a squeaky jacket. The only saving grace is, when you're outside and there's more ambient noise, the squeaking is less noticeable. Or, as I once learned in a Psych class, "Misery demands company,"

Calling on all AERO "Happy Days" Jacket owners...

I like rust knits with Seal.

To Epaulette or not to Epaulette an Aero J107/106

I vote for no epulets. When my JL bomber came, it had epulets by mistake so I sent it back (and you really can't see any holes). If you were displaying rank or something, then they make sense; otherwise they seem unnecessary (and I've read that in Africa epulets imply colonialism).

    Lost Worlds B2

I saw the same jacket on ebay; but then I said to myself, "36?, who's it for a jockey?" It's a great jacket. Wear it in the best.... Except for the nights, it's been warm in LA this winter. I'm happy when it's cold enough to wear my new JL bomber with a mouton collar and a merino wool...

New Aero Highwayman; The 4th Time's the Charm

Let me be the first to congratulate you. I looove the way you didn't settle for less than perfect perfect. Who wants a job half done? It's hard to tell from the pic, but you look fairly young so you'll have a lifetime to enjoy it (assuming you're not struck by lightening or some similar...

Johnson Leathers Kangaroo Cafe Racer Jacket

Congrats. I never thought about kangaroo leather. As the search function will show you, I'm one of Alan's biggest fans (and I learned about him on FL). I'm not sure about the light weight. More bulk and weight (up to a point) gives a perception of protection I think, even if the hard facts...

Do you ever try to guide how creases should form on your jacket?

I'm a loser going in. One shoulder is higher than the other. Not as bad as Richard 3rd; but then again I'm not a king. It makes for some crazy diagonal creases in back; but luckily I'm not vain (about how I look from the back).

New Langlitz Cascade in Black Goatskin w/ Brown Stitching

I was just out riding (in my Vanson Teton) and day dreaming about what I'd like to buy (build?) next. Unfortunately since I retired, I don't have as much disposable income. Still........ The way you sized it reminds me of that old Gracie Allen joke: She put a small and a large roast in the...

New Langlitz Cascade in Black Goatskin w/ Brown Stitching

I want to chime in with congrats on the jacket. I especially want to agree with Fanch (as I usually do) on the subject of goatskin. I dismissed it for a motorcycle jacket in favor of heavier leathers; but if it protects as well (as Langlist attests), there's a lot to like in the wearing of...

    Leather Johnson Vest

I have two JL jackets so I know something about it. My advice is to not over-think it and, when necessary, just ask Alan what he would recommend and go with it. End of story.

    New Aero Premier Highwayman arrived

Very nice jacket (and you're young enough to get a lifetime of wear out of it). I only have one bit of advice: "Don't be hasty with French pastry." I wish I had a quarter for every jacket that a guy getting a little older could no longer zip up. Although the flip side of that is when it...

Took a chance on an eBay Langlitz Cascade

Congrats. Nice jacket. Getting a jacket on ebay that fits is almost like hole in one.

I'm a bad as can be on computers but I've discovered https://imgur.com/? You upload your pic to the site, then it tells you where to click to copy and paste it.

    Buttons on a leather jacket

So solly for the second query. Repeating oneself is the sign of a small mind (and I know I've said that a thousand times).

    Buttons on a leather jacket

I got a Lost Worlds A1 on ebay that I really like, but I'm sort of paranoid about the buttons. Part of me says that high-end jackets use buttons a lot so they must be serviceable. Still I have buttons coming off shirts all the time and every time I button the jacket, I feel I'm that much...
