Oh boy, that is one fine classic. I know you will enjoy it for many years to come.

Santa just left me two hats under the tree-what a good boy I must have been this year :) In my letter I've highlighted it needs to be pre-war, but I think I can make an exemption this time

Not an expert in American hats but I think this particular color combo along with the label/size tag and "midnite" name suggest Cavanagh as the maker. Probably in the 50's

@Short Balding Guy wore his homburg version with matching brim binding today and I believe @steur has one too

That's the second Tripler I find. I've sold a grey homburg one to @Steve1857 some years back. The styling of that one alluded also to Cavanagh (or Dobbs), but can't recall any of the labels

Merry Christmas to all !

Definitely a Hat Corporation of America hat so Dobbs and Cavanagh are both in the running.

It’s a beautiful color combination.

That is one great present, Panos. Great colour combo. You must have been a good boy :)

I'll try and dig my Tripler out and check the labels.

Maybe you didn't state which war? Love the hat. Great shape and colours, Panos.

This Gem of Wear has some pretty dramatic flair with a larger brim and pronounced curl, especially considering it's a private label. The original department store was founded in 1915 but burned down in 1944. It was rebuilt and opened again in 1946 and continued at least into the 1970s. Based on the quality and construction I would venture to guess this came from the original, pre-fire store.

Fléchet Smart Foulard lords hat in a reddish brown colour called "Diola" (I think). Size 57 with the brim at a good 6cm and the crown at a generous 11,5cm at the center dent. Looks unworn and the felt feels fantastic. Not lightweight at 148 grams and it is large for me being a size 57. I want to keep it, but I don't know if I will.
