I am 6'2", a solid 240, been shooting for 40+ years and there is no way I would shoot a scandium 44 recreationally. I have a 44 mag S&W with a 3" barrel and Hogue grips and the recoil is not bad at all. However, that same gun with the scandium frame is a monster. If I were backpacking in bear...- Doublegun

Been thinking a lot about this thread. I guess my take on small town living is that it forces you to act appropriatly. If you want to be a part of the community and be respected there is no room for arrogance, or being cocky, or gossiping or anything other behavior we associate with declining...- Doublegun

If you didn't know where those stores were back then you would probably have a hard time locating them today. However, through Main Street and some Historic Preservation grants they are in the process of restoring the faces of many of the buildings back to how they looked back in the day...- Doublegun

We didn't have thugs back them but there were certainly bullies (much tougher than the small town thugs today). Everyone knew who they were and just tried to stay clear. Officerbob, I am a big fan of the S&W Model 42's with the internall hammer. They still make the J-frame but not in that beautiful blue. I have a K-frame 44 Mag with a 3" barrel and I am amazed how accurate the gun is. Nice collection- Doublegun

Whats happened to Filson !
They were bought out a few years ago. I think their traditional tin-cloth and wool products are still very high quality. No idea about their newer stuff. Give them a call back. Maybe you had a new rep on the phone that was having a bad day.- Doublegun

I have one that I have been using off/on for a couple of years. Found it on eBay. It's definitly a stout piece of gear. The heavy leather is VERY stiff but it's actually a pretty light bag. cotton drill lining - a question to JanSolo and anyone else with the know-what
I ordered my LHB with the wool Common Ridding lining, which I wore for a year then returned it to Aero and ask them to replace the lining with the "bottle green" drill lining (which is more of an olive color).
