By the way, the boots don't say "Maine Hunting Shoe" on the back of the lower part of the boot then they are not true Maine Hunting Shoes, they are the PC version where the name was eliminated so as not to offend those who oppose hunting.
My LL Bean Hunting Boots. Bought them in August of 1973 at the LL Bean Store in Freeport. They have been back to Bean 3-4 times for new bottoms and at least once for patching. Honest wear over thousands of miles chasing quail, hunting deer, hunting grouse and fishing in a half-dozen states...
Really enjoying seeing the counrtyside and making me want to spend weeks traveling around the British Isles.
As for the US team's outfits, what the heck was RL thinking in having the uniforms made in China and I call BS on the cost excuse. Like too many US companies, it's about making money...
Scout scopes need to be low power so that when looking through it with both eyes open the shooter can aquire the target rapidly, aim quickly and fire rapidly. I would never use anything more powerful than 2.5x for that type of shooting. It's important that the shooter be able to see clearly...
First shave this am. Piece of cake. No blood, no burn, no negatives at all. It took a little more time than a can and standard razor but it actually was relaxing to slow down and shave. It reminded me of all the pleasure one can get from relatively mundane tasks if one is just willing to slow...
Ok, razor (Mekur) - check; good blades - check; steptic pencil - check; badger brush - check; soap - check; witch hazel - check. Ok, tomorrow morning I'll give it a go. Question: what's the proper way to use an aftershave (Bay Rum)? Every time I use it I feel like I am using too much and I...
Hi, my name is Doublegun and I have a problem....
Been fly fishing for almost 40-years. At last count I have 23-24 rods and a dozen reels. I am a big fan of IM6 graphite rods made by Winston, I have a handful of fiberglass rods bit I have a real problem with bamboo. They just keep...
Excellent point. Additionally, there is a generational aspect to the definition of "cool.". When I threw the question out to my wife and daughter, my daughter rattled off the names of 3-4 actors that I don't think are even remotely "cool."
I have not been a fan of any of the post-Connery Bond actors, but Craig is probably the least offensive. However, McQueen didn't just act cool, he was cool and that's where today's actors seem to come up short.
Watched The Great Escape past night and I ask my wife and daughter (both movie junkies) which one(s) of today's actors, if any, is comparable to Steve McQueen in his day in terms of the "cool" factor. The only one I can think of is Jeremy Renner and I am not she he's as "cool" as McQueen.

Pretty much the standard 2-pocket in Vintage Brown FQHH. Adding 1" to the sleeves, satin lined sleeves and bikers back. The only real tweak is a breast pocket sewn into the lining, big enough for my iPhone. Also hoping to drop 20-lbs in the next 12 weeks so i can do the jacket justice.
A buddy of mine has an M1 Carbine from his dads service in the Korean war. It's a lot of fun to shoot and pretty accurate. Shooting off-hand I can keep a clip on a small paper plate at 100-yards. The velocity is so slow that I can hear the bullet hit the backstop after each shot. Always...
One more jacket question: per Amanda, the standard back of a size 46 Cafe Racer is 28", about 2" longer than my LHB, and I am thinking that I may want it a little shorter (1.5"-2"). Anyone have any advice based on experience who can advise me?
Earlier this spring a pal and I decided we were going to get bikes this fall when our kids are at college and we're "empty-nesters." The idea was received with a chuckle and an "ok, but I'm not getting on the back of it." Perhaps it was the several beers but she seemed open to the idea...
