Sedgley actually started making sporterized rifles out of surplus Springfield 1903 actions before Griffin & Howe but Griffin and Howe Rifles were of much higher quality resulting in Sedgley's rifles to be called a "poor man's Griffin & Howe." My Sedgley is on the left and my early G&H on the...
This thread is killing me. I rode dirt bikes in the early 70's but I have never had a road bike. Seems like the new "vintage" Triumphs might be a relatively easy and safe way to get back into the sport. On the other hand, I can only imagine the statistics for accidents involving riders who at...
Oh, my. That's a sublime old Purdey. They used the best looking wood. Look to be fluid steel barrels. Original or sleeved?
I have been thinking it's time for me to get an English gun. I doubt I could ever find a top tier name in my price range so I have been looking for a Hussey or Grant...
Yes, built on what appears to be a "high" serial number 1903 Action and chambered in 30-06. I have often said the only thing that could be better than my G&H would be a G&H chambered in 30-06. I have learned a lot about the 7x57 and the capabilities of the round but if I could have only one...
This forum keeps costing me money! Ever since I bought my early G&H "Sporter" built on a 1903 action I have been ruined. Mine (posted pictures earlier) is a 7x57 and is almost too nice to take out on anything other than a blue bird day. After seeing the Sedgley I have been on the prowl and...
Bulleit has become one of my favorites since discovering it last summer. I can't (and won't) even try to describe the taste but I do know it's a nice drink, right over ice.
I have been craving Templeton since first learning about it here in a very early post but it's limited in distribution. Guess I need to find a bootlegger to make a run to Iowa.
I think the leather trim is going to be your problem. You can't order that treatment from any place other than Filson. (in fact, none of their tin cloth pants come himmed). I would think any number of Filson dealers will ship internationally but you are probably only be able to order them...
How do you store your pens when not carrying/using them? Over the past couple of months I have managed to acquire several nice FP's and now I need to know how to keep them nice.
Thanks,
JDG
I would never leave my Aero un-attended. Heck, half the time I walk into a store (especially a clothing related store) people want to touch it. I have no doubt that someone would steal it if there was an opportunity. Also, it's not just the cost of replacing the jacket, it's the time I have...
Absolutely agree with Nick's suggestion. As someone said to me when I got my new Aero, "wear it like you hate it" and it will break in just find. No shortcuts with an Aero - just wear it and enjoy it.
Where, other than eBay, can one find vintage pipe stands? I am looking for a stand(s) with hunting/fishing themes and just posted a WTB in the Classified forum but any advice/direction would be appreciated.
Cheers,
JDG
For several years I worked weekends at a gun club pulling skeet and trap in the mid-70's and I don't ever recall seeing a creature like that but I dreamed of it. Clearly it was a simpler less litigious time; no ear or eye protection.
I'm not a big fan of the "Judge" line of guns. They have been marketed heavily as a personal defense weapon but they are far too big to carry. While they may be perfect to hide under a drivers seat I think one starts getting into the gray areas of self-defense when a gun is produced from under...
