The quilted padding looks typical of a late 70s jacket. But there is something about it that looks much earlier. The details like the side vents, lining and the label looks earlier?
James.
P.S
Also its long in the body so I am sticking with late 70s.
Just received the lasted catalog from Lewis Leathers.
As well as great info on their products it has vintage adverts which are interesting to read. The catalog includes photos and dates of their labels over the years which may be of some use to anyone trying to date an old Lewis.
If you...
Oh well, its still a great old jacket!
I too once bought a jacket that turned out to be something other than the seller had led me to believe.
Hope this has not dampened your enthusiasm to find an original.
James
I have a Lost Worlds Dubow A2.
I must say I like it very much. Sure it may be heavier skin than an original but the character of the leather is hard to beat.
Anders,
Your Ryder jacket looks impressive. I have had a look at the sales page and they have a 40, I am tempted, pity about the...
My local cobblers trade from an 18th century building. They have been there as long as I can remember. It seems as if time has stood still for this old shop.
They only seem to sell loakes shoes and carry out shoe repairs and very little else.
In these days of large chains and internet...
Or for a new jacket you could try Lewis Leathers:

Not cheap, but top quality, and they are making bike jackets just as they made them the in the 50s.

Yes it was indeed a sale item.
The restriction is due to the deep cut of the arm holes. Only noticeable when lifting the arms up sideways.
The leather is so heavy, it’s fantastic. Not every ones cup of tee I’m sure but I am enjoying breaking it in.

Here is my Aero Long Half Belt after some wear.
I would like slightly longer sleeves but then again I like the way I can show a bit of cuff.
Even thought it’s a relaxed fit it does on occasion feel slightly restrictive when zipped up (rarely do this) but it’s not a problem.

I’m no expert but, although the EBay listing says 30/40s, I think it looks 50s.
I like the jacket and think at the price you paid it’s a great deal.
How is the fit?
James.
Went to a Military fair at Stonleigh Park on Sunday.
I found original A2s from £360 up to £1500.00!!
The £360 A2 was in bad condition with no label wrecked knits and dissolving lining and the leather had some damage as well as being stiff as old boots. I nearly bought it though just to...
I have been meaning to reply to this so sorry for the delay!

I have been meaning to take pictures of my Aero to compare with when new as it’s so nicely worn in now.
I will try to get...
Congratulations John.
Worth the hassle to get it right.
Good to see this collaboration have a happy ending.
Aero can expect a flood of custom jacket orders now!
James.
