The jacket looks just fine on you. Looks like you made the right size choice in the end.
One can feel a bit self conscious in such a jacket at first but the thing to do is to get used to it by wearing it, and wear it with confidence. But do expect the odd ‘where’s your spitfire’ comments...
Talking of sleeves I found this picture I took of my jackets a while ago;
Aero is on the left, the ELC in the centre and an original pre-war on the right.
The ELC is the nearest sleeve pattern but then it depends on which original you are comparing with as I would think they had varied...
I like my Silverman’s Sweater. I like the fact it’s not to bulky and works well when riding a motorbike.
I too found it just a little snug and could easily go up a size. Something to think about if anyone is thinking of one of these.
I was at the Ace café on Sunday and theirs looks...
I am sure if you wear it enough the hide will soften just fine.
The fit does looks good with (I assume just a T shirt that you are wearing) but I it looks like it will be too snug with any more layers.
My Lewis is a good fit also which I really only wear in the summer and I wear a larger...
Superb jacket and the fit is as it should be.
Like the fleece colour. I think I now prefer yours to my later 42 pattern. Can’t buy another Irvin can I? No I must resist, maybe not look at the fedora lounge until the temptation passes!!

I bought one one of these sub sweaters:
http://www.silvermans.co.uk/ProductDetails/tabid/89/Department/Military/Category/NAVY+KIT/Description/ROYAL+NAVY+SUB+SWEATER/ItemId/9966/Default.aspx
Good value I think.

Spitfire, that’s a mighty fine jacket you have there. It looks darker then my Aero Real Deal Irvin?
Whish I had asked them about the sleeves but I simply did not know enough at the time. Maybe they can make me some more sleeves but it hardly seems worth it.
Anyway, I am now inspired to go...
I bought a pair!
As you can see they are made by William Lennon and Co in Derbyshire. They are very similar to their Derby boots (http://www.williamlennon.co.uk/footwear/78ptc-mens-traditional-leather-derby-boot.html ) only more expensive!
I was sure they were going to be very...
From the pictures it seems both jackets fit very well and they look great. Love my LHB and am sure you will both enjoy yours more and more as they wear in.
I was at fist slightly concerned the arm hole situation when I received mine but now after a lot of wear I don’t notice it. If I were to...
Called in the LL shop yesterday. It’s great!
We met and talked at length with Derick and Hiro the pattern cutter. Great chaps indeed.
They are always looking at new projects including 36 pattern flying boots which D Lewis used to make.
Also they are looking at waxed cotton and indeed they...
Sammy,
When I bought my jacket I made an appointment, (the shop had not opened at the time) tried on a couple of sizes on and took it home with me.
Derick was very helpful in helping me choose a size. I have had no problem with mine so I can’t comment on the after service only to say that...
I bet you ordered a Bronx?
Still more than happy with my lightning.
Just the jacket to don in the warm weather when out on the old Triumph.
I was going to ride to the shop for a pair of boots but they are out of stock.
James.
Disappointed? Oh yes!
Will book the day off for my 45th birthday, ride my 66 Triumph Bonneville in my Lewis Lightning to London, buy some Lewis Leathers Westway boots from the new LL shop.
Best call the to check stock first, OH NO: Sold out in size 9 and 10, and the Racer is sold out in 9...
The Norton is 1944 and a genuine RAF dispatch riders bike. Part of the last batch ordered by the RAF, according to VMCC records.
It’s my slowest bike but I use it often. It will thud along (if no wind or hills!) at 50 mph two up. Its just great fun.
I also have an Ajay, it’s a 55 18s which...
You must be pleased this your latest find, it’s excellent.
I notice the knits look if you like ‘tight’. Are they replacements do you think? They look original from your pictures.
I mention this as I remember some criticism of repros which look just like this.
