I have a Victor Victrola with that oak finish (quarter sawn)
that I once dated to 1923. Great machine. I wonder what
you would recommend I use to clean and treat the finish?
It doesn't have a wax coating, or much of one anyway.
It sounds great.
Thanks for the "open" shot. Great that way, too.
Love the way the top pocket flaps are already becoming
dogeared like those of the original. Having seen that
period photo you posted of the motorcyclist with the
similar jacket, I have to say the second row of buttons
is a bit much- good...
Interesting to see the old jacket. I like the way the bottom
pocket is so close to the bottom edge of the jacket.
Any particular reason for losing the front and back seams used
to narrow the jacket in favor of that standard Aero belt design?
I take it the second row of buttons was...
Looking good there, Spiridon.
I picked up the recent CI special on Bahia Blu Nicaraguans
and they're not a bad smoke. That's what I had tonight,
during a break in the rain.
Very nice. Did anyone get it? A friend went as Dr. Manhattan
this halloween and most people thought he was a member of
the Blue Man Group... Next halloween it'll be different.
Another property done justice in the comics and ruined for
the big screen... The 70s Kaluta version should probably be
required reading on this forum- essence of Golden Age:
Thanks.
It's very soft and very light. Most days I can't wear it
because it's too cold here in California (note to future readers:
it is now winter in Northern California). The Type A-1 jacket
is often described as a "summer weight" jacket.
That said, those Eastman A-1s look...
Enjoyed the post, but I'm doubting your point.
People have been dyeing leather black for a very long
time. Older items are still black. But more to the point,
there would be portions of the leather that would still
appear black, on the interior or near the seams.
Old black leather...
I think it's a celebration of the fact that Americans can finally
wear cowboy hats again without feeling that we are giving
the impression that we support a certain Texan who was in
the White House. I certainly hesitated to wear cowboy hats
for that reason.
BTW, I thought those cowboy...
I am similarly color challenged. You know who has a really
impressive ability with color? Art Fawcett. I rarely say something
like this, but I think you should do whatever he says.
Not necessarily. I have a Resistol "Beaver 100" that also carries
the designation, "King's 50" and a $50 price tag. So Resistol was
fast and loose with the "Beaver 100" label, unless it refered only
to the percentage of beaver in the felt.
In any event, it's a high quality hat.
I found a picture of the red fedora. Unfortunately, the
way it's set up, you can't make it an image link or link to
it directly. Go to:

Click through till you get to #24. Look below...
I have been searching the web. No luck so far.
It's surprisingly difficult to find pictures of the crowds around
the speakers at the event.
I'm more interested in what looked like a green dented homburg
someone wore up and to the right of the podium- looked like a
nice vintage lid...

I recommend vintage NOS frames from Allyn Scura:

I get all my eyewear from them.
Unfortunately, you're in London, which makes trying them
on more difficult.
