Now I trust you're not April foolin' me...
I'm guessing it's a 50s hat. There is some taper, even
all the way around and I'm guessing that's the way it
was blocked. Certainly not reverse taper and I don't
think it ever was.
You can see it in the pix, in spite of the general purpose...
7 1/4, brown and has a Cavanagh Edge.
It really needs a cleaning. The felt is fine, but the whole thing
is a bit grubby from wear, especially the liner. The brim is just
shy of 2". The "bash" was in it when it got to me. With a clean
and block you can shape it as you will. It has that...
7 3/8 but fits more like a tight (not LO) 1/2.
The hat is 7 3/8-1/2 hat is gray, has a raw edge. No idea why this
wasn't snatched up when I listed it before. The Family's Fashion indeed.
Nice, dense felt.
This one reminds me of one DblCoronaMS picked up:
It's in very good...
Listing this again, hopefully with some improved color pix.
The color on this hat is hard to capture. It's a great hat,
just the wrong dimensions for my fat head.
The brim is almost 1 3/4", raw edge, with two stitch lines. It's in nearly
new condition. I put the dents...
You don't see this every day. A coup for the colossal cranium.
Please let the guys with the big heads go first here. Yes, it is
tagged at 7 3/4 under the sweatband.
I'd say it's late 40s or early 50s. You can decide for yourself.
Big crown (no kidding), brim is at least 2 3/4". Dark...
That photo was probably from about a month ago.
It's sunny here in Oakland today.
Sorry about your hat! Almost as sad looking as my
dog was after that rain storm:
Ouch
How many vintage hat fans like me will see the heading
for this sale and think it's for a Selvedge Stetson?

Tan or beige or ???
This seems like a very old Whippet to me. It's tagged a 3/8 but fit my
7 1/2 LO head pretty much off the rack. It badly needs a cleaning,
but that's not a priority at the moment. I'll post my blue one soon.
Yeah, it's a very tall crown.
I still don't buy this theory. I have and have seen lots of hats
that were treated very badly in the old days but have survived
to this day without much taper. I think it's safe to assume the
majority of them saw a fair amount of rain. Did anyone see this
hat Dinerman posted today...
My advice is to try the Search feature. If you use the
Advanced Search and search the Hats section, you'll
see three threads in addition to yours. You'll see member
"Anthony Jordan" has the same hat and that the name
derives from an Abbott and Costello routine.
There are mounds of...
