Just for the record, I've done business with many US jacket manufacturers (Lost Worlds, US Authentic, Gibson & Barnes, Schott, Eddie Bauer, LL Bean). These guys were all super-professional with great products as well as good customer service.
Sadly, sometimes all it takes is one bad transaction...
This distressed looking Cockpit G-1 was in the latest Orvis catalog. Not sure if this is the standard finish on all current Cockpit vintage G-1's or if it was done specially for Orvis.
The one I have is about 5 years old and it's a very dark seal brown. I'll have to dig it out and get a pic.
Big J, another possible option is The Cockpit's vintage G-1 in washed goat. I own one and it's a beauty; awesome graining and burnishing and a nice honey blond mouton collar (very reminiscent of a 50's or 60's G-1). They run a bit small IMO so if you get one, I suggest sizing up.
Also, if you...
I had a very similar issue with a leather jacket manufacturer here in the States and it took 3 months of calling and e-mailing before I finally got my refund. They used the exact same excuses. I'm curious if it's the same outfit...

The leather is a beautiful tone of dark russet; it's thick and a bit stiff but is slowly breaking in with nice grain, patina and burnishing developing (reminds me of Aero FQHH). The break-in is half the fun (and well worth the effort) in a good pair of boots or a heavy leather jacket.
Sorry Damo, I owned the Suburban (a size 44) years ago and sadly outgrew it (am now more comfortable with a 46). Jacket was sold (but I am sorely tempted to get another one). Jacket sizing and body types and fit preferences are all subjective. Someone called it "the journey" of finding the right...
I've owned several LW jackets (3 russet HH a-2's and a black HH Suburban) as well as a Schott 689H. For me, LW is an awesome jacket; thick indestructible HH (waterproof too) and 100% perfect workmanship (seams, stitching, zipper, snaps, etc). The LW 46 long fits me spot on. The Schott was good...
If you're still polling folks for opinions, I think I agree with Carlos840 that the copper red would look pretty awesome! That khaki tan (4th one from the top) would also be quite striking with seal brown leather. Good luck.
Great looking jackets, gentlemen. Was wondering about the zips: were they produced in brass as well as the nickel steel finish? Just wondering what zipper finish is more WWII accurate in a repro Irvin. Tally Ho!
I have a BK M-422 and the company was very professional to deal with. My jacket has great workmanship and is extremely high quality. Fits perfect too! You can ask for leather samples and judge which russet hide you like the best. Good luck!
I think some people would find waiting ANY length of time for their latest "must-have" leather jacket unacceptable. They want instant gratification, or their jacket purchase is an impulse buy (see it, want it, buy it!). Waiting 2 minutes (let alone 2 years) to fulfill their desire is not an...
