Possibly the coolest leather jacket I've seen!

Sloan, it as an A-1 by The Few. Like you I loved it, so much so, I saved the images of it from the Japanese site ;)

This was the jacket that started that little burst of interest in blue leather mid last year around here (and to a lesser degree) VLJ. Petered out pretty quickly. As I said earlier I reckon some blue leather looks amazing (this A-1 being a case in point) but it can look terrible or worse, kitsch, if it's used on the wrong pattern and in the wrong shade.

Identical color to the one I purchased. Cool color!

They had the capability to order some, but after all the talk I don't think there was enough interest/commitment of the customers to order any. They had access to a bunch of different shades at the time. They might have some now, idk.

Likely not... I've not seen much of BK recently; the website I think (last I looked at it, maybe last month?) still has only one civilian jacket on there - their run at the Indy (interesting how many people do a version of this one - I wonder are they all paying some sort of royalty or are Paramount a bit lackadaisical these days?). They're obviously putting out a lot of stuff via other marketing channels - VLJ, I assume? (I'm not a member there, so can't see anything on that site). Unless, though, the VLJ is radically different than I have gathered second hand, it seems unlikely that much of their market is fairly conservative and unlikely to go for anything too radical. Blue leather might be a step too far for many. I can see it being nice, potentially, for a fifth or sixth jacket, but that's going to be a specialist market...

Badalassi is kinda odd. Aero made a Plainsman from it, and it was beautiful, shiny butterscotch colour, but my god it was heavy. I mean Horween steer heavy and very stiff. Not sure what happened, but in the end they decided to pass on any more stuff. :eeek:
I know BK went through a phase of offering every shade of blue under the sun on the VLJ, but I think it's one of those things were there was a burst of enthusiasm that didn't make into actual orders.

The only ones I saw come out, in the end, were MajorMajor's blue Aeromarine with the slash handwarmer pockets (nice looking jacket), and Carrie Insurrection's Aero A1-type. After that, yeah, it all went quiet.

Yes... too light, and it'll look like a seventies Lewis or Lewis-wannabe at best. I do like the blue-black though if it can stay dark... Something I could be tempted into once I had a jacket of every hide and other colour I wanted, and needed to sell myself a way to justify just one more.... ;)

I think most of us here are way beyond that point already...

That's how to do it I think. Get a bunch of conservative jackets in your collection and then go for one "unorthodox" one.

I think this jacket linked to earlier looks fantastic and very wearable. Can't see the back but I love everything that I can see, esp. the collar, the cut in front, the color and finish of the leather, and the way the bottom sort of fades away. I'm pretty conservative but I would wear this in a heartbeat - somehow simple without being traditional.

You don't want to see the back. It has a built in rucksack affixed to it! Now THAT is too much.

^Yeah, all of those from that Japanese company are repros of East West jackets. I like them, but that backpack is too much. The ONLY time that would have worked was back in the day. Perfect to carry your "belongings" into Woodstock or to a spiritual camp in the desert. Not today I'm afraid. You'd deservedly get laughed at.
Still a cool piece though.

The East-West design has that pattern on the back (which I guess is meant to look like a guitar?), but which does in fact look like the rising sun flag in monochrome. That's why I would never put it on my back- Japanese nazis are out of control these days.

As for the design with the back pack, it's a great idea, but you wouldn't really want to load up with a couple of kilos and then stretch the hell out of your leather jacket.

I'm beginning to wonder if my "top secret" jacket plan is a bad idea, given it involves some Japanese rising sun influence. I guess my reoccuring dream of getting gunned down at an intersection by the Yakuza might turn out to be reality...
