In "The Towering Inferno", Newman was supposed to play the Fire Chief and McQueen the architect. However McQueen felt the Fire Chief was the more heroic role and talked producers into switching the roles.
Companies and commercial enterprises pay for the rights to use a deceased celebrity name and likeness from the family estate. Some names and photo likenesses are cheaper to "buy" (or "rent") and yet are still iconic, thus being more lucrative to market then others. I would guess that Steve...
Personally I love the G-8/440/Raider design, especially it's faux association with the U.S. Navy (those diamond-shaped elbow patches are awesome!). Hope this thread (and the knowledgable input of our esteemed FL members) leads to some good historic perspective on the civilian development and...
Arrrrrrgh! Just when I (almost) had it narrowed down to what my next jacket would be, along comes the Premier 1930's Highwayman! Thanks Carrie! :eusa_doh::D
Very, very nice...but I cheated and looked at ALL the GW "combat clone" jacket photos. Number 1 and especially number 3 (the red knit Aero contracts) look amazing!!!
Jeff, we all followed your trials and tribulations with BK and I am happy that you got your jacket. Hopefully it's a nice garment and you can start wearing and enjoying it. Wear it in good health :D

If/when the GW/DD partnership bears fruit (ready-made, off the rack A-2's in standard sizes), I would highly recommend them as an option. The one-off "sample" I recently received is a unique, special creation that reflects real skill and craftsmanship.
For the record, I also own a BK, an ELC...
Thanks all for the nice comments. I have an ELC .50 cal and a LW russet A-2 and now this GW/Aero jacket and the GW is getting the most wear by far. It's my daily go-to jacket and it already feels like an old friend.
Again, my thanks to John and Vickie at GW.
Jon11, I'm not sure but I think the wait time is about 18 months now. I was lucky enough to randomly check the sale page and the GW-made Aero size 48 was available; I confirmed jacket measurements through afew e-mails with Vickie and bought the jacket immediately (receiving it 2 days later)...
Here's a quick fit pick (I wear my A-2 over my Merchant Marine Officer's uniform along with a captain's "crusher cap"). Everyone at work asks me, "Where'd you park your B-17?" LOL
