Not sure if Schitzo mentioned it, but did the entire jacket get smaller or just the back length? If the shoulders, chest and sleeves all still fit then maybe Aero can just somehow remake the back panel? Just a thought [huh]
McQueen grew up terribly abused and underprivileged; no wonder he had a chip on his shoulder when he became an adult and achieved success.
Ask the average guy on the street who he'd rather be, Newman or McQueen, overwhelmingly they'd choose Steve McQueen.
The USAAF also allowed (unofficially) private purchase (civilian) leather jackets to be worn by pilots and air crew. During war time (and out there on the front lines) a lot of rules and regulations get bent (and broken) so red knits on a flight jacket was probably no big deal.
I like the red knits with dark seal A-2's and the russet with light brown "caramel" knits looks good too. Not a fan of anything too extreme. If I was going to get something really contrasting, I would pick a more civilian style jacket, not a military A-2.
I think if the BK was a size smaller it could be a neat jacket on you, although one that would certainly require some serious breaking in to give it a more natural, relaxed and comfortable looking fit and drape. Or you could throw a fleece or lightweight goose down jacket under it and wear it as...
Totally agree with all that you stated; I didn't mean to imply that Porsche was just randomly or shamelessly marketing Steve McQueen, just that almost anyone can pay to use a celebrity name or likeness for almost any advertising purpose. For my tastes, I just wish they designed a cooler jacket...
