    Western, anyone?

" I think this is a 75th Anniversary(2002) Resistol and doesn't have any "X's" on the labeling, just the Clear Natural Beaver Seventy-Five." That is much older than 2002 if my memory serves me. I recall that being a hat from early seventies. The Diamond Horseshoe was Resistol's premium hat...

Most versatile color and asking about Stetson hats

ML, The black looks good on you with your complexion and black hair. Probably would make your opposing counsel and his client have a wee bit of fear when you walk up the courthouse steps.

    A minor Grumbel RE: Campdraft

Maybe it's just a myth but I recall reading somewhere that the name came from some cattle baron wanting a different colored hat and he wanted it the silver color of a baby calf's belly. I thought that was on one of the custom hatmaker's websites but I can't find it via google search.

    A minor Grumbel RE: Campdraft

The truest silver belly I have ever had is Resistol's version of it. I have had several Resistol SB's and they all have been a light grey with a hint of tan. Stetson's I have are much more tan. I guess it depends on the person dying/bleaching the felt and just how dirty the last calf's belly...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

I wish I were a software writing guru. I'd write something where pics of your hats and a webcam shot of what you just put one would would be sorted and the hat would be selected and your revolving hat rack would rotate to present the match. How many hours per month would this save? How many...

    Corduroy Hats

I'm thinking corduroy is more equivalent to an AMC Gremlin. An Edsel has much more interest and background than a corduroy fedora does. (sorry if I'm stepped on anyone's toes, there might be one in the audience that has a collection of classic Gremlins and a wall display of prized corduroy fedoras)

Chili, Either your head or my head is going to have change sizes. You are formidable Ebay competition on the 7 1/8's. I will admit that you have a head meant for hats so it eases my pain that you have it. Since every time I bid againist you, you win and all that happens is the seller gets...

    Near misses and real losses...

16-17 years back I was mowing my place with the tractor and was wearing a Resistol 5 Star Beaver western (5 Stars were more or less the equivalent of clear beaver Stetsons). I passed under a low tree limb and ducked but the hat got knocked off. I immediately stopped and looked back and the hat...

What’s your favorite decade for hats, and why?

50's because Whippets, and Whippet clones by other hatters, peaked then and they get my vote for THE ideal fedora.
