I bought this a few months back. It was dirty and was in the typical LBJ/San Antonio crease and brim shape. Liner is an odd gold/bronze color too.
No model name and nothing on factory labels found with sweat folded down.
The band is unusual based on what I see posted on here and other places I...
If breaking in means to get it conform to your head and not have any tight spots, then you can use a little steam on the areas of concern and then put the hat on. The steam softens the shellac used as stiffener and then placing it on your head will let it set to your specific shape.
Totally agree, sweat is best!
My significant other thought I had gone completely off the deep end once (that is probably wrong, she has likely thought that MANY times) as I was going out on an unseasonably warm January evening for a countryside night time bicycle ride wearing a brand new felt...
I ran across an old company newsletter of my dad's from 1959 in Birmingham Alabama. They were doing a groundbreaking ceremony for a building expansion at his office and they number of men in the crowd of a hundred +/- WITHOUT hats were few. This was an insurance company which I do not believe to...
Interesting article but I think the down economy and fedora popularity are not related (unless your personal down economy is due to too many Ebay visits and too many orders for that NEXT perfect lid...).
Does anyone on this site associate their interest in hats to poor economic situation?
Do...
UWS Cowboy,
Now that you have cut it down and converted it ( a sin I also have had to seek atonement for) you can use 400 grit sandpaper to smooth the edge and give it the rounded raw edge that was the finish the factory performed.
A 1 inch by 3 inch strip folded into a "V" and then run...
The quality of the hats collected here lately is incredible. Gene is so right Solo's collection is unbelievable. Billy's new lid is pristine and looks so good on him.
Bravo to you guys!
Way to go Billy! No parcel post tariffs, no VAT, just good old fashioned hat bargain!
Can't wait to see the bash and brim customizing you'll do. Pics please.
Whenever I see the Shamwow guy it makes me think basement meth lab.
Shamwows are probably real good at soaking up those pesky ethylene glycol spills down in the lab.
Yikes! 29 western felts 20X to 500X, more than half 100X or better plus 7 vintage "dress" felts. Over $10K. Some of these are more than 25 years in my possession. Several with lots of wear, sweat and oil staining, etc.
I wear one of 'em every day.
I could have focused my OCD on many more...
There is no one right answer to this.
Probably the least wrong answer is to go hatless to an interview because there is likely a greater chance that the hiring manager MIGHT think that to have worn and be carrying a hat is "weird". But there are a lot of people that will tell you that a person...
Author sounds like a KOOK! The very idea of too many hats! The very idea that many hours spent every day online and on many weekend days looking through yard sales and thrift stores is obsessive!
What rubbish!
Burn the book!
You can have my hats when you pry this off my cold dead noggin and...
