very nice... early 1940s -
Pre- 1940s Stetson dress hats.
The red manufacturing tag goes back a long ways earlier than this hat. The white tag is an unsolved mystery. I’ve wondered whether it was pasted into hats that were factory refurbished, but that is just me wondering. Does the sweatband have a sewn rear seam? Can the LOTXXXX imprint be read? -

There is a steel frame inside your collapsible top hat. In my experience the Gibus mechanism is not receptive to a changes in size or oval shape. -

Very nice. I find bowlers/derbies that fit properly among the most comfortable hats to wear. They also cleave the wind like nobody's business. -
