Congratulations on your new flat. Nice to see that you have room for more permanent displays now instead of stashing it all away in trunks and closets :)

Btw, If moving all your stuff with you to Stockholm will be too much, i know a taker for some of it living not too far from you...:D

Hey Trotsky!

Hey Trotsky (John)! Glad to see you are still kicking around. Did you make it back to Ohio finally? Drop me a line sometime.

Anglocrat... eh..?

That rear pocket is SO workwear and un-military- as is the stitching.

The label is very sporting- a little out of touch with the product.

Can't be to sure on a date but I have a new shipment of Khaki arriving in a few days. I'll share some photos here too.

Late '40s earliest- and being British- up until about the '70s.

BT, great find! I really have got to get a better pith...

Baron, those shorts are great, too! They look similar to the RAF shorts in the way they fasten, but that pocket threw me, too. Surplus or not, though, they're just the ticket for a good day in the field. I like the variation, anyway. I don't want to look like a Tommy right out of North Africa every day!

I have a couple of pairs of British Army 1950 pattern tropical shorts (from the 1970s) that I will give free to a good home in return for the shipping. They are 30 waist and are very like a military version of those shown by BK They are khaki drill with a button fly. I acquired them for the buttons (which are the same as WW2) so the buttons that are on them will be replacements.

PM me if you're interested.

I just found a link here to a 1950s scout uniform made by Anglocrat. Apparently a Manchester company.

So, these could be scouts shorts. Alan, were you in the scouts? Remember the uniforms?

bk

The Boy's Brigade, me, just for the small-bore rifle practice. However, I'm reasonably familiar with 1950s Scouts uniform since we used to rumble with the local troop often enough (they had an advantage, having sheath knives as part of their outfit, while we struggled with clasp knives).

Your shorts are probably Scout uniform shorts. Do they have any knife cuts in them? If so, it wasn't me, honest...

Adventuring Khaki-

This Khaki Drill jacket was made to be washable- no interlinings, canvas, lining...
The cloth cost me about the same as a cup of tea.
The manufacturing was a little more than that.
It's been through the machine a couple of times.
Almost looks the part now.

No, it doesn't need pressing.

It has a bit of the 1920s about it but a little more shaped construction.

BT, is that the jacket i tried on? It sure is a beauty. And together with that DAK shirt.

And that pith helmet looks like it's never been worn at all. Just a few marks (water) from storage. Waauw.

Yep.
That's the one, Speedster.
Its supposed to have that "wrinkly, slightly battered but it doesn't matter" sophistication of the working jacket of an important early '30s Archaeologist.
My own design, of course. More in the works...

Pith is good, just been stored badly, by a German- a little warped and some water stains. The Helmet, that is, not the Helmut.
Should tidy up perfectly, with my special Pith Helmet restoring and rejuvenating talents.

Thanks,

B
