Hello all,
Just a question - when you drop your shirts off at the drycleaners, do you request that they be returned to you hanging or folded?
Space is an issue in my wardrobe... I'd like 'em folded I think, but I'm afraid they'll need a press before I can wear them.
Congratulations! Very nice indeed.
I like Art's trademark bow treatment. That little splash of colour is a nice touch.
How is the felt? Is it supple or a stiffer treatment?
I do the shoe-shining (and dishwasing) in the house, for me & my wife.
When I was in the Army we actually were instructed to strip the "laquer" off of our class A shoes and put the polish on ourselves. That filled up a few good hours...
I did the same with my brown Tricker's brogues, but...
Hi Feraud,
Congrats on the nice finds!
I enjoyed popping into the second-hand/thrift shops in LA, they're much better organised that what I have seen here in London.
In any event, the ties are very nice indeed, and the cufflink set is super!
Here in the UK I too have encountered several establishments that had a "no hats" policy, including the Living Room here in Islington. :(
Once, when going through security at Dublin airport, the security guy said that I couldn't wear a hat on the plane - "not allowed". I waited until I was...
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this question has been asked before (perhaps even by yours truly), but I'm curious how much "overlap" there was between what we refer to the Golden Era and more modern movements?
From perusing our fave auction site, I notice that many Art Deco-esque items which I...
Congratulations on the new job!
I myself am in the IT field. The money is good, but I can't say that it is my dream career. I think that your new direction is an inspiration to those of us who might be thinking about changing careers at some point.
Good luck - it is good to know that...
I found as well that the black Kiwi is fine for everyday shining. To get a mirror-like shine I'd have to sit around and do the spit shining routine, which isn't exactly practical for me.
The other Kiwi colours are OK, but I find their neutral or gloss (something like parade gloss - I can't...
I had a problem with the neutral polish - the hard stuff in the tin. It would flake off into a white powder where the leather flexed, and it looked awful. If I melted the polish into the leather with me wife's blowdryer it was OK... just OK...
One go with the Meltonian and me shoes look...
Hi All,
When I was in LA over the weekend I picked up a jar of neutral Meltonian creme for my my brown shoes. It is the best shoe creme/paste that I've ever used. However, it isn't available, as far as I've ascertained, here in London.
The word on the street is that it is marked here...
Congratulations MK on the successful launch of "Classic Style". I believe that you have a winner on your hands.
Having received the premier issue of "Classic Style" at the QM Event, I am pleased to say that it is exactly what I hoped it would be. Interesting and informative. There was even...
I play the guitar. I've played since I was about 11 years old. In another phase of my life (which seems like another life altogether) I was in a rock band, with all that entails... funny clothing, late nights, bad hearing, big bus that broke down a lot, dodgy managers... but I digress!
I...
It is 7 3/8", with a 5.5" crown and a 2 3/4 inch brim.
I measured a vintage Borsalino and sent the numbers to Art. Art recommended a 2 3/4" brim rather than 3", and I'm glad he did.
One last bit about the new hat... I finally got a chance to compare it to my vintage hats, and it is actually softer and a "finer" felt than some of them!
I have a Borsalino that is thinner (almost too thin - I'm afraid to wear it too often), as well as a Royal Stetson Deluxe from the '50s...
