Check out the hat on the Defence Minister...

I'd daresay that it is either a Tonak or a Borsalino. The caps on the soldiers are of a newer type. The older type had more of a peak. I think they're trying to emulate the US style BDU cap (obviously the older woodland camo type, not the new type).

Check out the hat on the Defence Minister...

It is hat weather in Romania. Teodor Meleşcanu, the Romanian Defence Minister, is sporting a rather fine fedora in this picture. I'm surprised it didn't blow away!

"Christmas Belles", from Marks & Spencer

My wife just showed me a promotional film on Marks & Spencers website (www.marksandspencer.com) that shows off their holiday line of womens fashion. It is a nice tip of the hat to the Rock Hudson/Doris day era films.

    Apple iPhone

Methinks the aforementioned analysts have their heads up their collective back passage. If they read any of the Mac user forums, they would see that Steve Job's $100 offer was very, very well received - and dispelled a large part of the ill-will that appeared after the price-cut...

    Russians on the moon

While the thread appears to have gone in a more intelligent direction, some of the early comments were rather childish - or perhaps uninformed. Why would someone assume that the Russians lack the "inherent competence" to put someone on the moon? While the Soviet Union didn't place a manned...

    Apple iPhone

Well, thanks to inventive "hackers" out there, providing several methods, an unlocked iPhone is up and running here on the Old Continent. Yeah, it might not be a big deal to folks in the US, but it isn't available here in Europe, and when it is, it'll probably be locked to one particular...

    My Resignation

I'm already on my way. I have neither a car, nor a 401K. I can't remember the last time I actually wrote a cheque either... :p

Some one at Bailey is a Dracula fan.

I really enjoyed Coppola's version of Dracula. Gary Oldman was great indeed, and Winona Ryder was (is?) easy on the eyes. However, for me it had an extra appeal... It might be a minor point, but it was the first Dracula film I'd seen to finally have extras (it was supposedly taking place...

    Odd hat

I don't know if this hat has come up here in the FL before, but I came across it while perusing the aul Wikipedia: Not a style you see people wearing too often!

    Getting fired 101

While I find that article laughable, I don't actually ask my boss for time off. I inform him that I'm leaving at such-and-such a time, or that I'll be off whenever. Likewise when I "work from home" (management speak for "pretending to work while having a lie-in"). I don't agree with that...

Nice work Tom - lots of interesting information there! Here in London I often see vampires walking around in broad daylight... Vampires of all sorts. ;)

Some one at Bailey is a Dracula fan.

If ye are really interested in this particular subject (not the hat), check out Cetatea Poenari, for Castelul Bran has the most tenuous of ties to Vlad Ţepeş. The historical figure, Vlad Ţepeş, is much more interesting than the fictional monster conjured up by the febrile imagination of Mr...

"What's That Ungodly Stink?" - French Cheese Surprises

Perhaps I tried a mild batch (?) of the Bishop... a mildy offensive Bishop instead of the stinking variety? The Morbier is strong stuff though.

"What's That Ungodly Stink?" - French Cheese Surprises

Here is an article that some people might find interesting: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/core/Content/displayPrintable.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/11/26/ncheese26.xml&site=5&page=0 Regardless of the aroma, don't let a strong-smelling cheese put you off trying it.

"What's That Ungodly Stink?" - French Cheese Surprises

Morbier is very good, but can be quite pungent. Saint Nectaire is also one of my favourites, but you need to get it when it is soft. It has a unique taste, reminiscent of hazelnut. Brie de Meaux is one of my fave cheeses as well. Also from France, you can't beat a good Crottin de...

I finally got around to updating mine. I've got to get it sorted and do it up properly one of these days: http://myspace.com/matei72 I'm actually more partial to Facebook, but that is just me.
