I'm glad that you all liked the hat - I certainly wasn't expecting this response!
Feraud - it was great meeting you, your wife and son as well. We almost felt like we were back in New York, seated at the table with the other East Coasters!
Same here Tony - it was nice to meet another fellow Lounger in person.
You cut quite the dashing figure in your top hat and tails... Got me looking for a set myself now!
The suits that are featured in the premier issue of "Classic Style" look great, and they're not vintage.
If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Deckard is the fashion consultant on that pictorial, no?
Great job! Everything there looked great, and is proof of what you said above. You don't...
It is the "steel" felt. Art was nice enough to send me a few samples, and "steel" fit the bill.
I'm now pouring over pictures trying to think of the next design to send off to Art... of course, only after it has been cleared with the "Finance Minister"! ;)
Hiya Mr. H,
Glad you like the lid. Art is a class act.
We had a great time. You would've enjoyed the QM - shame you and Mrs. H couldn't make it!
The London event is right around the corner... ;)
We noticed that as well... we raved about the abundance of beautiful old Art Deco buildings still in use, and people (not Loungers) were kinda nonplussed. Probably thought we were two crazy foreigners.[huh]
Hi all,
Here is the hat that Matt Deckard saw at the Queen Mary over the weekend:
Here is a pic of me with the hat, next to Feraud with the real deal:
It is a custom hat that I ordered from Art. I am very, very happy with the hat, and it has become an instant favourite!
For a...
I never wore a trenchcoat when I was a teen, for the sole reason that I didn't look good wearing one.
Unlike the young fellas on this board - I couldn't pull the look off until I was in my early thirties! :p
I had two pairs of high-waisted trousers made up a few months ago. They don't have a Hollywood waist or drop loops. I couldn't quite get this concept across to my tailor.
However I did show him a few pics of vintage trousers, and he managed to get the lower part right. They're not...
Wow - that is a wonderful hat. I really like the colour. Is that the "steel" colour felt that Art has?
I have a '50s (I think) Royal Stetson that has the same colour and ribbon, the brim is just a wee bit wider.
It looks good on you. :eusa_clap
Edit: Duhh... the first post said it...
I have been drinking absinthe for years, and I've noticed no ill effects... :p
It is a shame that it appears to have caught on with the binge drinking culture (yeah mate I had 5 shots of absinthe with the flaming spoon and all yeaaaah)...
I admit I haven't tried the higher end absinthe...
Hi all,
We'll be in town for the QM event, and I was hoping that someone could give me a few tips on where to go shopping for some general attire and accouterments while in LA. New, vintage - all suggestions are welcome!
We've never been to LA before, so we're looking forward to it...
Absinthe_1900 is 100% correct.
I think a lot of the "reactions" nowadays are purely due to the power of suggestion!
I'm quite fond of absinthe, and I've never had a "trip" - and I've had lots of the stuff. Even when drinking the low-end Spanish absinthe I've been fine.
It does...
I've got a "vintage" (1950s) Soviet-made FED rangefinder type camera. I inherited it from my father-in-law. He picked it up on a trip to Moscow in the mid '50s. It is a tank of a camera - you could break down a door with it.
It is in exceptional condition and it takes great pictures. The...
Hairdressers near Queen Mary?
Hello ladies,
I'm in the Powder Room to post a question on behalf of my wife...
We'll be flying into town for QM 2006 - can anyone recommend a hairdressers capable of doing something vintage-esque near the Queen Mary?
Thanks!
