DeHydrated Straws
Have you tried putting a bit of water on the hat and sloshing it around? My panama got a bit "crunchy" (as it can get pretty dry in the winter here), and directly wetting it did it wonders. As long as you don't go overboard you shouldn't have to do too much reshaping work, and I don't think you... -

I don't know if this would count, but let's see. After reading (on here) that sanding is a way to deal with (light) moth damage on the surface of a hat, I was tempted to try it out but I did not have the trust in being even and gentle enough with sand paper on a hat. I have one of these things... -

I wonder if it's the same thing as the Borsalino 100% beaver offered at Bencraft's (for significantly less)? Anyway, a check on Google with "Borsalino beaver ultimo" will suggest another source selling the hat at $550, so the person selling it at $725 must be ... [words left out]. -

Bolthead, I think the hat looks great. However, I do think the ribbon looks too tight around the hat, such as seen in this picture of yours: Forgive my ignorance if the hat is supposed to be like that, but I can't help but think the hat might do with a small adjustment of the ribbon. -

What do you think of the Indiana Jones hats?
You can if you still want. ;) There are many academic digs that need volunteers with loads of listings on the website of the Archaeological Institute of America, and it's a very nice way to spend a vacation. I was at one and I would never hesitate to join another one again. -
