I find it interesting to observe that the Nazi propagandistic promotion of state power does indeed go down to even everyday items like the hats they make.
Or it might be my wrong impression of course, but the logo just screams out its Nazi-era heritage to me.
Hi, Douglas, thanks for the reply. I am quite curious myself about buying the hats from Bulgaria as well, and too bad from the sizes avaiable they appear to need a rather risky stretch to fit my head.
That hat you have looks absolutely stunning.
Yeah, it isn't easy for us to indulge in this hobby. At least we don't have 62 cm heads. :)
But there's always hope. I myself obtained my "flagship" 7 1/2 Borsalino San Remo for less than $40 just this past month (looks a steal compared to the bidding wars going on in Ebay right now), so some...
Ah, a fellow 59-60 cm head! :)
I hope your problem with the Dobbs hat resolve well in your favor. Anyway, if I were you, I wouldn't worry about not being a good collector. As long as you aren't using your hat as a soccer ball replacement the hats ought to be fine. And don't feel bad about...
Aabraxan, from one new member to another, welcome. :)
Actually, do you have a problem with buying vintage? For the $35 or so of these hats you ought to be able to find a pretty decent vintage hat, which you might find much better as a starting hat than a wool felt hat that might badly...
I hope the more informed members of the lounge could help me with this.
I want to buy a lady's hat (not a fedora), but I am totally ignorant in terms of what companies make a good, durable lady's hat or what to watch out for (e.g. shrinkage, etc.). There are some hats I see on the Lock and...
In terms of the shape, what you can do is this:
Get a pot (small one) and fill it with a reasonable amount of water. Put it on the stove and get a moderate boil going. Put your hat over the steam and just use your hand to shape it as it gets warm and moist. If the ribbon is creased up as...
You are welcome. :)
Finding a place to buy a hat in Boston is actually the easy one, compared to my current task of trying to find someone in Boston who can repair my Borsalino ....
The Huns are one of the "barbarian" groups that crossed the Rhine to attack Rome, as another poster mentioned.
And of the "barbarians", the Huns are considered the most terrifying and destructive. Everyone was scared of Attila, and many other "barbaric" groups (such as the Visigoths) would...

I think they are open 12-6 PM each day.
It's not exactly a hat shop, but a vintage clothings store that sells hats (quite a quantity at that). Asides from fedoras, they even have homburgs and boaters. Happy hunting!
I'm new in this forum, but I think I can help with this.
As far as I know of, Toppers is indeed the only (fully) hat store around. They are at Tremont Street at the Boston Commons (near the Loews Theatre). It is not a place a man can shop for hat, although ladies might have better luck...
