Unless you really, really like your hats black, I think you should get your Borsalino in a different color (maybe brown). You would have more colors to match with your closet. :)
Oh, I mean, the blue and white is a very nice combination and it's not surprising it's popular amongst many colleges.
I was just wondering whether AlanC was joking since I haven't seen many people use "small school in Connecticut" in reference to Yale, one of our top three schools where many...
If you are joking, I don't get it?
Yale University might share the same colors as University of Kentucky, but that's definitely Yale University colors right there.
I'm not so sure, pgoat. When I bought my Borsalino featherweight (mentioned in another thread), there were (intentional) pinches in the front and also in the back. I did away with the ones in the back, of course, but maybe some people like to have pinches in the back ....
Looking at these hats again, I'm starting to wonder about the quality designation in these Borsalino hats. I have observed the following (not in person):
Superior Quality
Extra Superior Quality
Extra Extra Superior Quality
Special Quality
Supreme Quality (these "Feather Weight" ones)...
Thanks for all the replies! And yes, I am truly lucky to find this thing.
Brad, I find it interesting to hear that Italians think Borsalino hats are "provincial". What stylistic elements of these hats make them think so, or is it simply because these hats are made in Piedmont that make it...
Thanks for your reply, Feltfan! Here are some pictures. I have photographed the hat over a music book published by Henle (they all have the same blue cover) on top of a black metronome as a color reference.
Here's another view:
The edge is raw, unlike yours. I didn't originally...
I have a blue Borsalino feather weight hat similar to the one mentioned here:

It is an absolutely superb hat and it truly is of supreme quality as said on the liner.
Unfortunately, the liner is attached to the hat by scotch tape. I...
Metropd, the answer will certainly involve politics (especially when discussing the current strength of the Euro and the Pound versus the USD) and I don't want to risk a moderator's wrath. Suffice it to say though you should check out the national debt and the interest rates since President Bush...
Boil some water in a pot, then stick a knife in the water. While the knife is still damp and hot, use it like an iron on the ribbon.
You most definitely don't need to replace the ribbon on your hat. Enjoy!
Twitch, you deserve congratulations for bringing this subject up. I find it sad how very few here in the US understand why the Chinese and the Koreans get fired up over the textbook wordings and Yasukuni Shrine visits, when Americans also were victims of the same savagery like the Bataan Death...
You mean, Dr. Zahi Hawass? He apparently wears a leather hat, as reported by the Associated Press :p

Oh! In that case let me suggest you pay a visit to Alexandria. It feels like a city frozen in a different era and it's not touristy at all (unlike all the other places you will probably visit). And the cool Mediterranean breeze will be a very welcome change from the desert heat of Luxor. :)
I was there in June. 45 deg C. I still wonder how I managed to get through the day at the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hepshepshut and then the Temple of Ramses III. Everytime I got a deal to get a liter of Coca-Cola for 10 Egyptian pounds I paid without question.
Ah, good memories.
