I tolerate baseball caps, don't complain (too much) about the "ganksta, godfather, etc." descriptions on OFAS, and even have learned not to cringe when I see somebody wearing a bucket-hat. But recently I saw something that I still can't get out of my mind. A gentleman (in his 40's) wearing a brown fedora backwards. Yes, pinch in the back. And the way the brim on the back of the hat (the part he was wearing on his face side) was curved gently downwards (the way many people curve the front of the brims on their flat-brimmed hats) suggested that this was his standard way of wearing it. As mentioned above, he appeared to be in his 40's, and I didn't get the impression that wearing the hat backwards was an attempt to be "cool".

Sorry for venting, but the backward hat was just too much.

After this years family Christmas party, a backward fedora doesn't seem so bad to me.

A family members BOYFRIEND was there...wearing fishnet nylons under HIS t-shirt and shorts  shakeshead :eusa_doh:

This was early afternoon, with (I assume) his wife. Did not appear drunk (they were purchasing artisan cheeses).

Clueless? - undoubtedly!

I've seen one being worn that was clearly much too small (perched way up on top of the head) ... but never backwards.

Interesting indeed lol

It has happened to me accidentally when leaving work. I put my hat on and took it off again to set it down, to remove a pullover. In a rush to leave I grabbed it at put it on backwards. I did not notice until I got in my truck and saw it in the rear view mirror.

Rushed?

I saw in my bar a kid out after a wedding with his lid on backwards. He was otherwise well put together.

Wouldn't apply with your guy but I think he was doing it deliberately, like he would wear a ball cap.

He was with a bunch of his buddys so, for his embarassment's sake, I didn't approach him.

:D

I saw someone with a straw on backwards last summer at a big outdoor event. Like others you kinds want to tell them but don't want to embassass them either.[huh]

There's got to be more to this story. I know I shouldn't but I so desperately want to hear it.

I snickered at this.

I walked out of Wal-mart last week only realize, once I got back to my vehicle, that my hat was on backwards.

I think this is a mistake to make once in one's lifetime, but only once.

I guess it's possible he was that clueless.....I remember trying on an open crown hat (maybe a bowler? can't recall for sure) many, many years ago when I was not used to wearing hats and I wasn't quite sure if the little sweatband ribbon was supposed to go in front or back....but it seemed to make more sense in the back.

I have a hard time understanding how someone could think the pinch should go in back....but that's just me.....

I'm not so sure, pgoat. When I bought my Borsalino featherweight (mentioned in another thread), there were (intentional) pinches in the front and also in the back. I did away with the ones in the back, of course, but maybe some people like to have pinches in the back ....

Pinches front AND back is another matter entirely.
There are at least a couple of vintage "bashes" that
sport front and back pinches. Of course those styles
were from maybe 3 decades before your Borsalino was made...
