lol lol lol
Damn -- I've come a long way!!! I still obsess over the 1930s, especially now that I can sew my own clothes. I still love movie stars, but lately I've been searching the 'net for "regular" 1930s women and getting more hair and dress inspiration from them than anything...
Thanks girls. You always look smashing, too. C-dot = the human old-school Barbie and Christy = the 1940s film noir look-alike.
Carey = always looking like she's having a good time! :D
I've dabbled in drafting my own. I've been using re-prints of 1930s books in my self-drafting journey. Sometimes they can be incredibly confusing (and I know I'd have much better luck with a modern book!), but that's half the fun -- ie "vintage effort" :)
Pattern Making from 1937 is the...
My pincurl set. No rhyme or reason -- just wherever they fit. It never comes out looking like the books anyway. It looks like this:
No matter what, I can't get my center part straight to save the life of me. It ALWAYS goes off to my right. :(
And if I make the pincurls a bit bigger...
^*%$#*(&)*$ INKY!!!!
I'm loving Ruby Woo by MAC. I love that it's really dry and takes a bit of effort to put on! And it seems to stay put ALL DAY. I'm a convert!
I'm thinking of making this dress in red with the triangle panels in green.....
I'll be in England for the Holidays so I'll have an occasion to wear it!
Patterns I've acquired over the past month or so:
I can't wait to make this "costume"!!
A birthday gift from my friend Heathyr. She also got me the next two...

I have an entire ALBUM on my Facebook called "Pattern Lust" and it's all just patterns I want so bad!! I am always willing to trade copies!! ;)
These are my very faves:
MAC Fluidline Eyeliner
I am in love!!! Goes on black (or whatever colour you buy), stays black, application is wonderful and "fluid", doesn't smudge in the corners of my eye throughout the day, STAYS PUT! Once you go MAC you'll never go back ;)
I'd go with a skirt. The first thing I sewed on my own was an apron and the waistband/ties really confused me (wven though I made the same apron 3 times!!) The skirt waistband is much easier.
I take about 30 minutes each night to pincurl my whole head, minus the crown. It looks like this:
This was before I had layers, so you can see that the pincurls are big and chunky and kind of far apart. They are very close now, a lot smaller, and not so heavy-looking. The layers make...
I <3 Folkwear sewing patterns. They are easy to make, look "authentic", and always fit perfectly.
BUT!! I *hate* the 1980s photos they use on their site!! lol lol lol Don't let them deter you. And while the photo for 249 isn't from the 80s, the dresses are too big for the models, making...
