I say that 1937 to about 1941 is the "HATS GONE WILD" era! lol
This is earlier than the time period (1885), but I couldn't resist. I would wear the %^%$^% out of this! It actually looks warm.
Got more in my FB albums...
Lilyan Tashman -- who looks hot no matter what.
I'm still not sure if this is obnoxiously awesome or just plain ugly [huh]
Dorothy Dare in Gold Diggers Of 1935
Miss America 1940 in 1971!! COAT!!!!
Really, anything ruffly, lacey...
Thanks everyone!!! :D
Yep, I got thin hair. For YEARS my idea of a vintage hairstyle was a Louise Brooks bob with short Bettie bangs. Never did I realise that pincurls and patience are the magic ingredients to getting your hair to do what YOU want!
I've also got more hair on the left...
Ever since I was little I've always liked the "rockabilly" look on guys. I had a SERIOUS CRUSH on the dude in the movie The Heavenly Kid lol I also had a thing for Lenny (from Lenny and Squiggy! lol)
I still like it. Hmmmm....that's probably my fave still.
Hawaiian/Bowling shirts...
Tough act to follow!! But I did V rolls tonight for the first time in my life.
This side was slightly better!
The back. The pincurls from the day had been brushed out -- kinda. You can see the better roll!
Ok, I'm not in the vintage hair elite club! I've only been "doing" my...
Here's just my 2 cents and FYI...
I *love* platinum hair! I just had mine dyed in September. I'm really a redhead, but my hair was dyed black when I had it done. The stylist was reluctant to do it, but I insisted. I had to sign a waiver and everything lol
Even with black hairdye...
Perfectly innocent vintage patterns I've turned into obnoxious, eyesore-ific messes:
Now for famous people:
Helen Kane
Wynne Gibson
Billie Dove
And now PATTERNS:
Here's something most people will probably find obnoxious, but I make no apologies in loving it:
And I own a fur that looks so real it almost scares me a bit  I don't wear it, though. No ocassion to....
I love outfits that get lost in their own frills.
And I'm a sucker for...
It's ashame there is such a divide. There's a big tattoo divide, too. Horrible, because I think those who do it to a "tee" look pretty fab! We all love vintage -- our different takes on it are what makes it more exciting to me [huh]
Yea, purists don't like my stuff either. I make the cutest 1930s dresses from the most awesome patterns, but I'll make the dress in bat or tattoo material! lol I love it and wear this stuff on a daily basis. It's *me*
There's not much I think is ugly, but these have always stood out:
Dear Kay, WTH is on your head? That's too much even for *ME*
Poor Ann Dvorak. Worst hairdo ever. I strongly dislike 40s-does-Victorian hairdos
I don't know why they always insisted putting Aline MacMahon...
Learn to sew and you won't have these worries ;) lol
But seriously, when I used to buy my clothes I only bought something that made my heart sing. And if it was in my size. And if it was cheap and in good condition. I only had 4 authentic vintage dresses in my entire life! The rest, I...
Thanks Shirin!
LD -- Sometimes I wish i weren't so obsessed with my hair so I can wear cute hats like yours.
Vanessa --
Psycho Sue -- love everything you've made! I really like the men's shirt. I should make some for the husb...
I'm anti-perm, too! Don't do it! All the perms I've ever had have been "poodle"-y, like C-dot said! Nothing makes better curls than pincurls, I've come to find out!
