Perfectly innocent vintage patterns I've turned into obnoxious, eyesore-ific messes:

Oh yeah- and Amy Jeanne, in my sewing lineup in the past I had bell bottom pants with the three stooges faces all over them and a hawaiian sarong dress with pinup girls all over it, so you're not alone in sewing madness ;)
I love what you've done!

Ooh! fun!
It kind of reminds me of the crazy fun beach pajamas of satin that Betty Grable wears in The Gay Divorcee- probably the mad shoulder treatment. These are padded with HUGE piping strips.

Lauren, this is a great idea for a thread! lol.

I'm not sure I own anything that could be described as *obnoxious* - my tastes are quite subdued! Mad, perhaps, but obnoxious? Hmmmmmm.

(goes away to rifle through wardrobe and ponder)

The men in the background of this picture are funny. I bet you they're thinking "who is this woman going to rob?" or, "It's really not that cold out, we're not wearing any fur overcoats."

I totally love wacky late teens/early 20s bathing costumes. Preferably with big bold prints. I saw a picture of one once with a spierweb design on it. Love.

I also really love Mexican souvenier circle skirts. I have one from Acapulco with cliffs and cliff divers painted on it. And another one with sequined aztec temples on it.

And the more ridiculous the novelty print, the more I love it.

Who am I kidding, I really love a lot of the over-top-stuff. I think that's what drew me to vintage in the first place.

MUST BIULD TIME MACHINE!

Gorgeous!!!

It reminds me...skipping farther back in time...when I interned in the costume collection at a museum...the textiles of their evening dresses from the 1870s were CRAZY!!! like the most psychedelic silk patterns that would put the 60s to shame! but in a bustle with dripping beads around every hem...AMAZING.
