Tagged 42. Measurements:
Chest: 22 (zipped; armpit to armpit)
Sleeve: 25 (straight down from shoulder to cuff)
Shoulder: 19 1/2
Length: 23 1/2 (this is a short riding model)
Hem: Measured seam to seam at the front, zipped, is 19.5". Measured zipped pressed flat (so there's a little bit of leather extending beyond the seam each side) is 20"
Weight: around 5lbs, 2oz.
This is SPECTACULAR!
As you know, Stu of Lost Worlds, NYC, makes some of the absolute best leather jackets available today. His workmanship is superb, as are the materials that he uses.
The only drawback to Stu's work is that the leathers that he uses are so robust and his jackets so indestructible that they can take a LONG time to break in and acquire patina.... which is why I'm delighted to offer this absolutely spectacular example of a Lost Worlds Ryder jacket that has already developed some beautiful--and genuine--patina.
The Ryder jacket by Lost Worlds is modelled on a 1930s - 1940s motorcycle jacket, with a rear protective lower panel at the back and a tucked rear waist. It has a bi-swing back for ease of movement.
It features a zippered chest pocket, two deep slash zippered side pockets, and (of course!) zippered sleeves. Since this is a genuine motorcycle jacket (i.e., one heavy enough for you to ride in and be protected) the sleeves zip to a close fit when done up, to avoid billowing or drafts at speed.
It is fully lined in pure black nylon flight satin, and the pockets are lined in cotton drill.
It is made from heavy black chrome-tanned horsehide (likely 4oz--this is a heavy jacket!) which is Lost Worlds' signature leather--and that will soak up anything you can throw at it for decades, only getting better with wear.
All of the zippers are NOS Talon zippers. All of the zippers move nice and smoothly, and all features their original heavy-duty leather pulls. The jacket features a windflap under the main zipper, and a cafe racer-style collar with a functional throat latch. It also has a deep interior pocket.
As with all Lost Worlds jackets, this was made in Stu's New York City workshop.
This jacket has developed some wonderful patina over the years--see my pictures. This is possibly the coolest Ryder around today--and certainly the coolest available!
Please note that the lower side adjusters have been removed, as shown--this is a common modification made to Ryders, as the horsehide from which they are made is so heavy (and when first bought stiff) that the side adjusters really don't make much of a dent in it, and so tend not to serve their intended purpose.
Overall, then, this is in Very Good condition.... but this really doesn't capture just how astonishingly cool this Ryder is.
A new Lost Worlds Ryder is $1,650... and will take years to break in.
So, how about just $475, or offer, boxed, shipped, and insured in the USA? Offers are VERY welcome!
