McCall's 4395
A copy I borrowed from MissAmelina.
It now has a white anchor applique in the center!
This LOOKS great, but I'm not a big fan of it on me. I *loathe* 50s-cut skirts of all kinds. This is one that hugs the waist, bags at the hip, and then gets tighter again around...
Everyone has been making such lovely, fancy things. I LOVE that 75th anniversary pattern, too. Too pretty.
This is the third version of this dress. I love it so much -- it fits perfectly, looks good, and it's really EASY to make.
cherry_bombb is the one who showed me the basics of sewing. That first time I went over her house she was showing me stuff and explaining stuff and I was just staring like a yokel. Haha. She would ask me if I was ok from time to time. That's just the way I learn. I take it all in and rarely...
You should come sew with us: cherry_bombb, me, and another friend who isn't on here. I hold "Gay Sew Days" at my flat every now again. lol. Gay in that they are happy :) Really! Also, I can knit so I can teach you that. It's all winning every which way!
Belts are the perfect touch to any 1930s long-skirted dress. I have the same white one I wear with just about everything, 30s or not. I made it:
I sit it on the bottom of my ribcage. I have it on right now, actually :)
I make everything I wear. I love the vintage cut and style, but I also want some of *my* personal style in there, too. With sewing you can make WHATEVER YOU WANT. I don't even LOOK at RTW clothing anymore. I don't like actual vintage, either. To fragile for me. I make copies of vintage...
I agree with every word of this. I *hate* ebay so much I don't even have an account! I sometimes buy vintage magazines there, but under my husband's account. The last time I had an eBay account and sold stuff was probably 99/00 when it wasn't too, too bad. Nowadays, the people on eBay are...
I didn't even see this thread. I just started mine up.

Patterns mostly. Some hats. Maybe a dress or two I didn't like....
Ah yess! I've been drawing mine on since 1998 so I have lots of practice! Mine are very shapely and arched -- but not Marlene Dietrich-y! That's even too much for me. lol
I'm selling a bunch of vintage patterns from the 30s to the 70s on etsy if anyone is interested. There's a few vintage hats in there, too:
-check the etsy thread- LD
I don't have eyebrows lol
Really, just a few patchy blonde bits of hair. Looks terrible. Same as my grandmother. I cut what I have off every few days and draw on my own. For those who think drawn-on, thin brows look bad, they are an improvement over my REAL brows.
One time my friend...
Why did you start your blog?
I started a Live Journal in 2003. I was tired of doing my "GlamSpams" (they took a few days to prepare!) so I moved to Blogger and made it more vintage-general.
How did you decide on a topic, find your niche?
Always vintage!! Now I discuss sewing mostly, but I...
Word! I make my 30s clothes in bright, playful colours. I also have those dreaded tattoos in playful colours. I think my new blonde hair makes me look even younger. Not that I care, but it does give me more of a "cute" look. People still think I'm in my mid-20s no matter what i wear.
As...
Please no vintage bathing suits on the fellas. I think they look hilarious lol lol lol
I'd rather see a fella in a fur coat. Really. I think it's sexy. Now THIS is HOT[/COLOR]:
I totally agree with this. I think I look cute in my 30s head-to-toe, though. And my new platinum blonde chorus girl hair. People usually think I am 25 -- I'm 34. As my husband says, girls can get away with a lot more than guys.
That would be interesting. All the ones I have with movies on them either coincide with the year the movie came out or it's one year later. The only exception was the Priscilla Lane pattern shown in my blog entry -- which cleary states it's a "Remake" :)
