The waistband on this SUCKS lol I had majour issues with the way the directions said (VERY VAGUE!) and just did it my way.
I sewed the front on like the directions say, then I sewed the back facing on the same way, but left the bottom completely open. I turned in the seam allowance on...
Kamikat -- Love that apron front.
LD -- That blouse is sweet. Everyone needs a basic 40s blouse!
Here's what I made recently:
My grandmother requested I make her an apron "out of scraps", but that is impossible for me! It needs to be just right, especially for mom-mom. Can't...
LD -- Love that dress. I surely hope you don't think it's "frumpy'!! It really looks 30s-as-heck!! And with your tats it makes a good contrast (I love the "librarian-with-tattoos" look!)
Everyone else has great stuff! I love the embroidery! I think I might have to learn that soon.
There's a drive-in in the county I grew up in:
http://www.delseadrive-in.com/
It was unoperational for almost 20 years until it was re-opened in 2003 (if memory serves me correctly!) The screen faces a big open road (Delsea Drive) and the screen really held up well all those years...
$5 from Etsy. Yesssssssss. I think I love DuBarry amd Hollywood patterns the most!
I bought this today for $2 at Jo-ann's. My grandmother wanted me to make her an apron because she said all her shirts were getting ruined. Errrr -- so, yea. I had to make the most unpractical apron...

This is my exact semtiment. I would feel really "naked" if I just went out in jeans and a t-shirt (like I did today due to lack of clean laundry!) It's really simple, I think. Dressing the way I do comes naturally so very little effort goes into it -- I...
Great gorgeous stuff! :eusa_clap
MissAmelina -- that blue dress by sixsexsix is from the exact same button pattern dress I lent you! lol That pattern gets around!!!

Everyone has MAD SKILLZ!! DPD -- your simple 30s dress is gorgeous. Again, we have the same taste!
Here's what I whipped up this weekend:
The sleeve isn't wonky (only under the arms where the stripes meet lol) -- I haven't put the zipper in yet and I pinned it...
I like any costume ever filmed in the 1930s. lol Here are just a few faves:
Anything worn in Three On A Match (1932). They are all so simple and I would certainly wear every single one on a daily basis.
All those crazy costumes worn by Thelma Todd. I really do love the 30s for it's...
Mostly beacuse of this message board and looking at photos of "normal" women from the 30s and 40s (as opposed to movie stars) I've began to accept my "imperfect" self and think I look great no matter what I put on. I also learned to sew and can make clothes tailor made to fit me completely...
I adore all my vintage sisters. When I first read the article I was a sucked into believing all the lies that were printed about them -- and it disheartened me. But the 50s gal came on this board, told us the article was all misquoted, and I fell back in love with them! My husband (who is...
Haven't bought a pattern in a while. I couldn't resist it :o
And Kamikat -- I got an incomplete pattern once from Vintage Martini. Even though the listing said it was complete and I even emailed them and they told me it was complete. I went to make it and the whole front of the dress...
A plethora of photos of "regular folk" up to 1960!
