    1920s ladies colour screen test

Mae Murray cracked me up. She always gave me a good laugh with her mugging. I also went to the blog article and I was disappointed to see "To provide context, the first full length color feature film did not appear until 13-years later (Becky Sharp). " NOT TRUE!!! Who writes this stuff...

    Build me an outfit gals!!

Don't know what you mean by "too old", but I think these clothes look fine for any age [huh] That said, Here are some cute vintage-y looks: http://www.monsoon.co.uk/Day-Dresses/Keira-Print-Dress/invt/75207400 Has an early-mid 60s vibe...

Anyone else ever feel like this?

That's where my "evil anti-woman" thing comes in -- I AM ugly and lazy if I don't "do" myself lol Lazy because it only takes 2 minutes and it's something I enjoy doing and i *know* it makes me feel better! Ugly because, well, I *am* kind of a mess without my warpaint! I'm a natural...

Anyone else ever feel like this?

Personally, I think all males should stay out of The Powder Room and the Beauty Room, but that's just me. Kinda makes it a "safe" place when it's only gals posting -- at least to me. [huh] But back to the Original Topic: If you're in a funk, but you are busy and don't really have time to...

Anyone else ever feel like this?

"There are no ugly women, only lazy ones." That's a quote by Helene Rubinstein. Said in the context of what she did for a living, I think it's a pretty good quote and I like to adhere to it. :D

    Considering going for the chop??

I got a pixie cut in 1998 and it was the BEST most LIBERATING thing I had ever done. I remember going home, looking in my "hair stuff" drawer and thinking "Well I don't need these anymore!" Then I went shorter into a chelsea and loved it. This was at that time, though, and I wasn't really...

    Eyebrow Grooming

I think they look good. But then again -- I don't adhere to any "rules" when dressing or putting on makeup. The less natural the better! My brows are drawn on high-ish and the ends are exaggeratedly long (like Clara Bow.) But I look GOOOOOD. And yes, I am quite the Harlow fan! lol...

    Vintage lady grumpiness...

HAHA! I remember reading this somewhere. Maybe it was here somwhere. Also, in one of my 1930s magazines it has a (colourized) photo of an actress with blue hair. Apparently she died it that colour so it would appear a certain colour on film. I don't know how true it -- you know those...

That's because you have a lovely reddish/pinkish shade of hair. They didn't have that "back then"

    Ladies prefer...

Haha! Don't worry -- I mentioned elsewhere in this thread that I also love a receding hairline and I'm the only gal I've ever known who digs this. I ABHOR hair transplants. Just let it fall out -- looks MUCH better. I *love* large foreheads (must be the "long face" thing) and a receding...

    Ladies prefer...

I prefer a tall man. Over 6 feet. I'm a bit of a "big" girl (not "fat", think Jane Russell or "amazon"!) and I've always been bigger or as big as a lot of guys. I like a big guy to make me feel smaller and, yes, dainty!! :p I am the reverse of the short man with a "Napolean Complex" I...

Does wearing vintage Get you noticed by the opposite sex?

I used to dress "freaky" and I got all kinds of comments. [huh] Not so much now that I dress vintage (and live in the city). If I went back to my hometown you're made fun of if you don't have on tight 80s jeans and a flannel shirt. lol

Can you help me date this item??

Don't know if this will help, but I have 30s patterns that call for elastic in the waists and sleeves.

Ain't No Maybe In My Baby's Eyes

I don't know how many of you have seen the Marion Davies documentary that TCM made, but they use a lot of period jazz in it and one of the tunes used is the aforementioned "Ain't No Maybe In My Baby's Eyes." (I admittedly don't even know if that is the correct title.) I've looked on the...

I like that dress! I would wear it. It's reminiscent of the 1860s.

They Say Em' From the Golden Era - Slang & Memorable Phrases

I heard Benny Goodman announce a song saying "this one rocks!" on a 1938 radio broadcast.

    I remember when.....

I remember an old-school Woolworth's in my hometown that still had a soda jerk bar thingie. It scared me when I was little because it was so old and kinda dilapidated and really old people always used to hover around it. Now I would give my right eye to experience it.
