The History/Evolution of Birth Control *Ladies Only*

Absolutely. As I said in my previous post, I tried 4 different pills before I found one that was good for me. No weight gain, no "bitchiness", no libido loss, nothing. As a matter of fact, my periods are lighter and less painful and I find that to be a positive.

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I've noticed a lot of vintage ephemera has been overpriced lately. Magazines, patterns, yearbooks, catalogs (all the stuff I love most, too.) I mean, we know there's a recession and you don't have money, but neither does anyone else lol I see the same catalogs and magazines on ebay, month...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

OMG, FINALLY! I've been after one of these for a while, but I wasn't going to get into a bidding war, nor was I going to BIN for over $100 (ridiculous!!) I FINALLY found a BIN in my price range. I made a Best Offer and it was immediately accepted. I can't wait to get this. It'll be my...

The History/Evolution of Birth Control *Ladies Only*

I used to. Not so much anymore. I got my period at age 9 and I used to have REALLY HEAVY flows that would last 7 or 8 days solid. And I would get cramps that made me vomit. When I started using tampons in 2003 (yea, it took me that long) I hardly notice my period anymore. Except for those...

    Confidence in dressing vintage

Yes, you need confidence and you need to look like you BELONG in your clothes. If not, it can look like a costume. It may just be a teenage thing -- I'm 35 and past caring what others think of me. Also, your friend should just wear what she likes. She needs to experiment and find it on her...

The History/Evolution of Birth Control *Ladies Only*

I've had three different insurances in my life and with one of them my pills were $2, the other ones (including my current provider) were $5. Never had any issues getting them ever. I've taken about 4 different kinds of pills, though. The one I'm on now is low-dose. There's no weight gain...

    Before and After Vintage

    What are you listening to?

Ooooh, yes! I have this app on my iPod. I love it. I also love the Radio Swing Worldwide network and Radio Dismuke!! But right now, Muggsy Spanier is getting lots of play in the iPod.

Although I like good hair I do also have a weakness for a receding hairline. Look at Gary Numan -- HOT in '79. Looks ridiculous now with his hair transplant. Probably would have looked better bald. :p

Does wearing vintage Get you noticed by the opposite sex?

I'm married, but I've been hit on in the bar. I've been told that my "1918 look" is "hot" (LOL -- I was looking more 40s/50s at the time!) Mostly I get compliments from older women, black women, and gay men. That's ok with me, though. They have always been the nicest to me when it comes to...

    Be Honest...

For a 40s look I put light brown shadow on my eyelids and under my eyes (instead of eyeliner), white shimmer on my browbone, and then black mascara with no clumps and TRY to get each lash as separate as possible. Lips are slightly overdrawn in an orange-y shade. Brows do what you want...

Nancy Davis!!! Don't know if she's been mentioned or if she was on my original list....

    Settling in?

This summer we had an unusual infestation of MILLIPEDES! They were everywhere in the laundry room/basement and I spotted a few in my flat. Never had a millipede outbreak before lol

Best repro/retro patterns for vintage styles

Agree with every word of this. VV patterns are GINOURMOUS in the bust. I've had to adjust every single one I've made. Also agree that in instructions are kinda vague (and they say 30s instructions are! lol) The more I sew, the less I like modern patterns and the more I like authentic...

    Settling in?

I'm not a big movie fan -- I even have difficulty paying attention to movies I LIKE, let alone a movie I have no interest in seeing (ROCKY!) lol But as for moving, I second the cooking and baking and getting your "smell" in the place. I remember when I moved to Philly our place had this...

    Settling in?

You should see all the tourists in line to get their pictures taken with the Rocky statue lol And everytime I drive by there are people running up the steps a la Rocky. I prefer what's inside too! lol I've never seen any of the Rocky movies.
