From a woman's POV, I make all my clothes from authentic vintage patterns and that's great enough for me! I have the cut and the style that I like, but it's newly made and sturdy! I don't wear real vintage ever. I don't want to ruin anything with my clumsiness!!
I've got a "thing" for hair and hair products so I do love my man's hair to be pomaded and "untouchable"!! I call it "Devo Hair" -- lol , because it looks plastic. I LOVE that look. Perfectly sculpted hair gets me every time.;)

My hair is layered, shorter than yours in the pic, and I can do victory rolls just fine. Wet set your hair in pincurls and it won't slide all over the place and it will stay in chunks better.
