    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I like this a lot. As well as the general nautical atmosphere, I love the beards! I don't want to grow one like that myself, at this stage, because my hair is still auburn and so there would be quite a lot of 'orange' in the beard. When my hair turns silver I might try, however.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

My sentiments entirely! Roll on Autumn: it can't come soon enough.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

Agree with all of that. I would choose Fall to visit Chicagoland. Is it still known as 'The Windy City'?

    Autumnal Thoughts........

My last visit to Germany was to Berlin last Fall. I loved the climate and the quality of life was much better than London terms of good public transport, excellent service and generally better priorities in running a capital city. It's on my list of cities to move to as an escape from Brexit.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

It's a good sign, I think, that the plants are behaving normally as it suggests that Fall/Autumn might come at the right time. One of the reasons why I plan to move away from London in the next few years is that Summer starts earlier than the rest of the country (including the rest of Southern...

    Autumnal Thoughts........

Thanks for that Tiki, and wishing your younger child lots of luck with the fall semester in these strange times. Interesting times, indeed, in several ways in the US. I am certainly not 'in mourning' for Summer as it is the one season I really don't connect well with. I am looking forward to...

That's good. How have you found the sizing, compared to the chap in the photo? I find that my ecru version of that sweater is just a little bit longer than that.

    Irish Fisherman's Sweater

Mr Sonero, I have posted a photo from the OKW website on the Woolly Pully thread, showing exactly how it should look.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

Does anyone else feel exhausted and worn down at the end of summer? This always happens to me and if anything is worse this year as summer seemed to begin earlier than usual. Autumn (Fall) seems within reach now. I can't wait!

We’re probably about the same age then Tony!

    Terms Which Have Disappeared

A few days ago, when booking a local Italian restaurant dinner for two, I missed out on the discount night (we have a government subsidised Monday-Wednesday diners' discount in the UK at the moment called 'Eat Out to Help Out'). When I realised that we had to book another night, I said that...

    Irish Fisherman's Sweater

Very much agree with this and welcome to the site. After our recent heatwave, a cold, stormy night on the North Atlantic wearing one of my fishermen’s sweaters sounds absolutely wonderful!

There are also the US Engineer type sweaters, I notice; I have one of these and enjoy wearing it.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I like the look of the grey US Navy turtle neck sweater. It’s similar to the familiar Sub sweaters but a nice variation on the colour.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

In ‘81 I was still a schoolboy - although I was in the Cadet Corps at school! Munich is a beautiful city but I know Northern Germany better, including Berlin. You would probably like the North of England; I lived up there (in Yorkshire) for a few years. There’s very good beer, a strong pipe...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

As I mentioned on another thread, I had one of those German Army (Bundeswehr) sweaters when I was a student - and would wear it as an occasional alternative to the British military sweaters. My Air Force sweater is crew neck - standard British but I like the USAF version. We’re you stationed in...
