You know you are getting old when:

... Blaming the dog is one of the oldest tricks in the book. The Silent But Deadly was an extremely useful skill at an all-male boarding school and men's college - and one which I honed to an art form. These days I am more civilised, of course!

I am really enjoying the coming of autumn. Today I have also been wearing a Navy WP. Yesterday evening it was the Purple Mix version.

Yes, I do. IMHO London was a much more interesting and genuinely diverse city in those days.

Agree with you on all counts. I imagine it’s about the same weight and thickness as the sub. and not as hard a yarn as the Guernsey. I’m glad you’re a fan of the Guernsey. I’ve been wearing them since I was ... 7 or 8 ... and that’s the early 1970s! That’s how much I love them!

Oh, not athletics at all but the White Star Line Olympic Class! I’m sure it is authentic as OK’s research is good, but I must search for some photos online. I’m not sure I want to wear a sweater associated with the Titanic, but I suppose I shouldn’t worry as the country seems to be sinking...

To me it looks like a hybrid of the Submariner and the crew neck version of the Guernsey. It could be associated with the post-WW2 Olympics (London 1948). I’ll look at the OK site and see if it tells me anything. Some US College sports sweaters also look a bit like this I think.

unisex-guernsey-jumper-100-british-wool-213-p.asp An interesting variation on the Guernsey theme. I am tempted by it, but will wait until later in the yearas I have recently bought a new Navy sub and will be taking advantage of the Outdoor Knitwear sale.

On a much happier note, I have received the Navy sub sweater I ordered from Peter Christian, which matches the ecru OK sub I’ve had for years but surpasses OK in the fit and the length of the turn back cuffs. It’s love at first sight! Too warm to wear it yet but I can’t wait. I’ll post some...

As I said, I am really surprised by this and wish you’d tell OK that in this instance they’re ‘not Okay’ (sorry!).

I’m very surprised as I’ve never had this or heard of it from anyone else. I hope you’re going to tell them about it. They will probably offer you a refund and a replacement.

On second thoughts, dry cleaning would get rid of the smell and then when you wear them a few times they will acquire a natural odour (or odor in US English).
