    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I’m assuming the Irish fisherman is the same as - or similar to - an Aran sweater. I have had a succession of these over the years and can vouch for their comfort.

    Autumnal Thoughts........

I haven't contributed to this thread for some time and I am doing so now to express how much I am enjoying this late autumn/early winter: the cooler weather, the shorter days and softer light, the frosty nights and crisp mornings, even the rain and cold winds - and being able to wear thick wool...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I would say that using natural products on natural fibres is always best.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

It’s been another great week for WP wearing. Mainly Navy but Army on one day and today Black, to match the leaden skies ! I’ve had a lot of compliments recently especially on the Navy WP from strangers in shops and on the train.

    Guernsey jumper

For some reason I am wearing my olive Army Guernsey far more often than the Navy blue version these days: the opposite of my Woolly Pully (commando sweater) wearing (see thread on this subject) where I now favour the Navy over the Army version of the WP.

    Guernsey jumper

I wore my oatmeal Guernsey during the day (aka ‘New Natural’) and am now in my Army olive Guernsey, which I have been wearing a lot over the past few days!

OKW are not paying me a commission for this, I promise you, but they are having a Black Friday 15% discount, Code BLACK15, until 3rd December. Doubtless I shall take advantage as usual.

    White RAF Roll Neck Sweaters

I am loving the cold weather because of the opportunity to wear military sweaters again - and because it's my favourite time of year anyway by far. ... My current sub sweater/RAF roll neck must now be around 15 years old and was bought from Silverman's, Mile End Road. It was made by a precursor...

WWII/old-fashioned military slang for passing gas.

WWII/old-fashioned military slang for passing gas.

I’m afraid I missed it! I never listen to local radio these days as it’s become so tacky. I liked LBC before it became a shock jock station.

    Sou'west Chunkies Sweaters

I can guarantee that you can’t go wrong with a Guernsey. Those sweaters are rugged and reliable, warm when needed but also good ventilation which makes them perfect both for outdoor activities and lounging about at home. They also last a long time: my Navy Guernsey is around 20 years old and...

The GREAT BRITISH DUFFEL COAT thread

Goodness - you’re right Dr Damage!!! I’d be interested in a gent’s version of this coat.

That looks very nice close up. It would be good for wearing over one of my many wool military sweaters - for example the olive green Army Woolly Pully or the desert Sand WP.

    Sou'west Chunkies Sweaters

Arthur Beale are based near Seven Dials. I have bought Guernseys from them a few times over the years and have recently seen and been tempted by their Beerenberg sweater. It’s quite a lot like the Submariner sweater I have from Silverman’s but I must confess that your post has made me think...

The GREAT BRITISH DUFFEL COAT thread

That’s interesting- I assumed it was German because of the woll label but the name could well be Dutch.

The GREAT BRITISH DUFFEL COAT thread

Has it lost all its toggle ties? I’m interested by the brand but don’t know it - but I assume that it’s German, Austrian or Swiss in origin! I might be interested and would like to know what size it is.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

My Purple Mix WP has a kind of Cinderella status in that I hardly ever wear it. I’m not sure why. Over the past few days I’ve been concentrating on Black, Navy and today RAF!

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

WP weather very much with us now, I am delighted to say. I have been wearing the Black version (used by the Royal Tank Regt and the Submariners) a lot over the past few days!
