I'm finally beginning to appreciate why so many Canadian retirees spend their winters in Florida! The thing with the pricing is that with the David Morgan version, his hat is pre-hooked for a chin strap, which I'll need; whereas I don't see that feature on the Akubra Territory hats listed on...
I need a snowblower hat.
Weatherproof, it must have a large brim so that I could lower my head for protection whenever the wind gusts the snow back into my face. Also it would need to be secured with a chin strap in order to thwart the best efforts of the wind to dislodge it.
So far the ideal...
Here are Akubra's most common color swatches:

The Lagoon Blue & Quartz (resembling the American/Canadian Silverbelly colour) would make for distinctive OR's which could be worn anywhere.
The only Campdraft...
I'm not hung up on black, altho black's fine by me. I do like Casehopper's suggestion of an out-of-the-ordinary color esp. black cherry. If we're special ordering a bunch of Campdrafts then why not opt for something unique?
Seeing the Canadian Centennial logo on that hat's sweat band sure brings back memories. The Canadian Centennial logo was used to mark our 100th year of confederation i.e. 1867-1967, the July 1, 1867 date being similar to the American July 4, 1776 date for us Canucks. I'm not sure precisely...
Well it's an open crown hat with noticeable taper. I suppose that could be its intended shape, same idea as the "Boss of the Plains" look; or perhaps it was left to the buyer to crease/bash the crown. Apparently back in the day many if not most hats were delivered open crown for...
I took delivery today of the Premier Stetsonian ordered from Del Monica Hatters, in Tawney. I'm quite pleased with the Royal DeLuxe fur felt body, which appears to be of high quality & I like the color. The brim is snappable while the open crown is easily creased & bashed without having to use...
The other day my Akubra Campdraft in Bluegrass Green in 61 cm. (size 7-5/8) arrived from Everything Australian. I had ordered it in mid-November. A few days later Sam had dropped me an email advising that there would be a short delay, that was no problem for me. Anyways it took about 3 weeks...
Yesterday I paid for my premium Stetsonian. I eagerly await same, perhaps it'll be the first one to hit Canada. While googling trying to find out more about the old Brockville, Ontario plant that Stetson had operated commencing around 1935, I stumbled upon a pamphlet put out in 1965 entitled...
Just curious as to where the photo was shot. The plaque appears to be in a cyrillic alphabet & the 1st line transliterated to English looks something like "LEONID UTESOV" (hard to make out).
In my experience the lighter fluid or naphtha will often leave a ring, if the spot cleaning is attempted from above. It seems that the liquid follows gravity combined with absorption & spreads the substance of concern, leaving a ring. However if I hold the hat up high & gently dab the dirty...
Nice hat ~ is that the Bluegrass Green that I've recently ordered?
Up here in Canada I'm on the verge of migrating to my Tilley winter hat with the ear & forehead flaps!
