Makes me wonder whether your Akubra Homburg might be some sort of collector's item. You might consider posting photos esp. of the interior & advising of any markings therein. Someone here might be able to shed some more light.
Maybe I should consider the Akubra Sombrero. It has a 4-5/8" by 5" brim. Now that I'm an expert in installing eyelets & affixing chin straps with stainless steel cotter pins, this would make an excellent hat for protection against the elements including blowing snow.
Do you have any...
Which version of the Rolex "Submariner" wristwatch are you referring to?
I like the one worn by Sean Connery in "Dr. No" (or was it the awesome Ursula Andress in her bikini exiting the water that made this particular James Bond movie so memorable?)
Actually Santos prevailed upon Cartier to provide him with the men's version of the wristwatch so that he could avoid fumbling about with his pocket watch while in the cockpit needing both hands to remain airborne. The man was a mechanical genius who appreciated marvellous gadgets, which he...
I can't help thinking but that the father of early aviation as well as the father of the modern wristwatch ~ Alberto Santos-Dumont ~ must be rolling in his grave at the thought of a quartz movement powering a line of timepieces named in his honour. Just my 2 cents.
32 bucks in 7-5/8, wish I'd been aware of the listing! I don't feel so bad noting some kind of black stain on its right-hand side, I wonder if it can be cleaned whatever it is
SNOWBLOWER HAT
A while back I'd asked for guidance respecting my planned acquisition of an Akubra "Territory", which with a chin strap I intended to use as my official snowblower hat. I figured that its 4" brim, coupled with renowned Akubra ruggedness, would help keep the snow from painfully...
I don't know what's more amazing, the extent of the wreckage or the vintage hats. Just from looking at this old photo I can discern the quality of the dress hats being worn by the men in the crowd.
I'd be interested in virtually any non-standard colour scheme. Hatophile has shown interest. Let's see if anyone else jumps in...
Jeff ~ can you provide some idea as to minimum number required for a special run?
Within the past few days a disappointed member posted shots of a recently acquired custom hat. Even to my untrained eye the workmanship left much to be desired, I especially recall the stitching. I've forgotten which thread the photos are in, perhaps someone can direct accordingly
If Akubra won't accomodate a Fedora Lounge special run, how about Hatco/Stetson?
I'm thinking in terms of the new Premiere lines of Strats & Stetsonians, perhaps a run in a special hat/ribbon color combo...
RE: "Short Balding Guy"
For some reason I thought of Eric a few minutes ago & realized that for some time now I hadn't seen his daily posts. I hope everything's alright, I recall that he had been recovering from a serious MVA.
Hard to tell from the picture if there's any stitching showing from the sweat &/or the degree of smoothness of the break between crown & brim. If you've got "nothing to hide" then go for it!
Note Matt Deckard's mention of the versatility of a white hat albeit with a wide black ribbon, towards the bottom of his blog page:

Thx Alan for posting this graphical analysis. It strongly suggests that size 7 was the most common hat size back in the 1920s. A current thread suggests that today's most common hat size is 7-3/8:

Thus in the space of 3...
