The one I sent you is similar to this and cheaper :) I cant make out the main zipper on my phone, but mine (yours now) has a beautiful giant brass talon head. Hopefully next few days will be in your hands.
That's awesome. I bought a new one, dark seal, few months back when aero was having sale. I think the C3 only comes in lettered sizes. Mine was a large- 22 ptp, 24 back and 21 waist. It's a little baggy and prob could have fit a medium since it's stretchy sheepskin. But I'm mostly going to...
the only thing that's making me pause that it's not a Cal is the belt straps are the "right" way and not the usual reversed Cal way. But I don't know if that's just a vintage thing and the newer ones have it with the snap on the top piece. that liner definitely screams cal, the weave belt, and...
Very nice. Is there mutton inside the cuffs by the wrists? If so, most likely a Cal. Langlitz has a distinct pattern on how they stitch the bottom part. You can compare to other photos of Langlitz. Cal is more like a closed square and Langlitz is like an open box.
Beautiful version with...
love these collection shots out in the sun. It really showcases the colors and differences in the jackets. Think I'm going to do something similar to that clock shot the other day. Just need to make some room and tidy up.
No. Not worth the trouble, cost, possible mess up (even though JL might do it). Looks fine, in fact more than fine. I think a lot of us on here obsess way too much over stuff.
first of all, phrase of the day, maybe the month -- "the dogs danglies" Absolutely love it.
And yeah, your story mimics mine. Roughly a year ago I had a couple of Andrew Marc and All Saints lambskin fashion jackets and a Schott Perfecto and was totally happy. Found these forums and realized...
There seems to be a good mix of us who have more of a collection I guess you could say and for mere simple mathematical reasons just won't get a lot of wears in. Vs those of you who have a handful or less and obviously can take a more practical approach.
I think if I had to start over again...
ain't going to lie. Had to take a cold shower before I did something crazy LOL. Beautiful piece but too rich for my blood and I'm not even sure it would fit.
any particular style? Posting your heigh/weight or at least preferred pit to pit range will make your journey easier. The sizes dont mean much from style to style and manufacturer to manufacturer.
Awesome categories lol. I too think 7 is a good number. One for every day of the week kind of thing. I'll never get there. I'm too attached to some for one reason or another. But, if I was starting over, yeah that would be it.
LOL. Good for you! Believe me, part of me wishes I didn't end up with a pile of jackets. Covid boredom + somewhat OCD personality + the thrill of the hunt got me here. Just need to move to Alaska now so I can get my money's worth.
I tend to do things pretty analytically. I was surprised yet comforted to hear there are many others here who have spreadsheets on the jackets they own, sold, want, etc.
With jacket wearing season only a handful of weeks away (well at least for us above the equator), curious if any of you have...
Bet we're going to see some new faces in the Finds and Deals thread :p
This might be one of the greatest for sure as far as rarity to price to condition, etc.
most likely cotton thread. Had the same issue with my 1950s Cal. Just breaks down over time. Obviously in the hands of a good tailor, should be able to reinforce the stress points with a blended thread and will last another good 50 years.
